The anticipated enrollment compares with 14,500 a year ago and reflects in-state and out-of-state tuition increases approved by the state legis lature, according to Wallace E. Gibbs, university registrar. One of the biggest changes at OS" this fall, said Gibbs, will be computer-assisted re gistration—the first such sys tem for any college or univer sity within the Oregon State System of Higher Education. University officials explain that the computer-assisted pro gram will efficiently aid stu dents in organizing their class schedules and is expected to reduce much of the paper work for students, speed registration procedures and provide the fairest registration system possible. Ten new degree programs will be started this fall at OSU including bachelor degreeof ferings in technical journalism, metallurgical engineering, Russian, religious studies and American studies. New master’s degree pro grams will be offered in at mospheric sciences, ocean en gineering and metallurgical engineering as well as doctor ate programs in atmospheric sciences and metallurgical en gineering. Mrs. Dyre Roberts attended the Hospital Auxiliary style show in Nyssa Saturday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Mackey of Adrian visited Sept. 7 with Mr. and Mrs. Noel Tuppeny. Till Whitley and grandson, Ronny and wife of Everett, Wash, visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Van de Water, Denver Edwards, Mrs. Betty Samer and Mrs. Edythe Pros ser. Mrs. Anna Miller of Payette is visiting her son Louis for several days. Mrs. Pearle Abbott recently took care of her grandson, Mike, while his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Mann moved to Nampa. Mrs. Dale Teter arrivedfrom North Powder to take care of her daughter, Mrs. Judy Pickett for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Slippy and family of Owyhee were Sept. 7 dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Clucas. Mr. and Mrs. Wilburn Ro berts of Pinehurst visited Sept. 7 with Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Sloan, Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Van de Water and Mr. and Mrs. Dyre Roberts. Mrs. Darrell English and Eleanor visited her father, Earl Clary Sept. 4 at Memorial Hos pital Care Center in Caldwell. They found him slightly im proved. Lois Seuell and Nancy Nel son attended a surprise bridal shower Sept. 7 for Sandy Os born in Kingman Kolony. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gifford of Nyssa were Sept. 5 dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Chaney. J. O. Y. met Sept. 2 with Mrs. Phil Clucas. There were nine present. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Slaybaugh and children of Emmett were Sept. 7 guests of Mr. and Mrs. Chet Smith. Mrs. Dyre Roberts visited the evening of Sept. 6 with Mrs. Anna Hamilton of Nampa at the Don Hamilton home in Adrian. Enroute to the coast they stay ed overnight with Mrs. Borge’s sister, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harris at Madras. The Harris couple took them to visit their son, Eugene and wife. The Borges met his brother, Albert and wife of Sacramento, Calif., when they arrived in North Bend. The two couples camped near Lakeside for ten days, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Borge then left for their home, with Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Chittick of Sacramento arriving in the Coos Bay area the same day. Mrs. Chittick and Borge are sister and brother. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Borge and daught ers of Eugene went to the coast one Sunday to picnic with their parents, the Jake Borges. A family picnic, of some 50 cou sins of Mrs. Borge, was held August 31 at Reedsport. After the picnic, Mr. and Mrs. Borge left for home. Enroute they stayed overnight with their son, Terry and family in Eugene and the following night with a daughter, Kay Grooms and fam ily at Prineville. Mrs. Marie Eilers and Peggy Sue of New Plymouth were Sept. 4 luncheon and afternoon guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Borge. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Leedy and granddaughter, Jamie Leedy of Sacramento, Calif., visited in the home of Lydia Worden Sept. 3-7 while they were here on business. Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Judd were Sept. 6 evening dinner guests in the Mrs. M. O. Judd home at Ontario. Mrs. Lydia Worden received word from Mrs. Frankie Wor den, who has been visiting in Canton, Okla., of the death of her father, George Carpenter. The younger Mrs. Worden had planned to return home this week but was delayed by her father’s death. The M. L. Judd home was the scene of a family dinner on the evening of Aug. 24, honoring Mr. and Mrs. John Downer, Anne, Kip and Sue. The Downers left Sept. 8 for their home in Taft, Calif. John Downer recently took Tom, Dan and Mark Judd, Kip Downer PAGE THREE and M. L. Judd on a camping fishing trip of several days, to Fish Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jennings of Nyssa were Sept. 7 visitors in the Norman Cutler home. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Fergus, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Conant and children were Aug. 31 dinner guests in the Norman Cutler home, honoring Danny Cutler before he left the following Thursday for Treasure Island to join the Seabees. Mrs. Ruth McCormick and granddaughter, Kathy McCor mick of Eugene visited Aug. 23-25 with Mrs. Marie Moore. Donna, Lorie and Tami Bost wick, step-daughters of Hank Moore, visited Aug. 23-27 in the Marie Moore home. While in this area they were riding horses when Lorie fell off, breaking both bones in her right arm. They left with Hank a few days later to return to their home in Palm Desert, Calif. Mark Pratt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Pratt, attended a recent FFA leadership meet ing at Tollgate, Ore. Mrs. Franklin Pratt of Cor vallis left Sept. 5 for her home after spending two weeks with her husband’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Pratt. Louis Pratt is in St. Luke’s hospital at Boise where he is undergo ing treatment. Mrs. Jeanne Hardman and daughters, Dwight Highland and Teresa Lane spent Sept. 7 at Silver City. They report en joying the museum there. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pierce of Longview, Wash., have been recent guests in the John Fah- renbruch home. The women are former schoolmates. Mrs. Sylvia McDermott re turned Sept. 6 from a week’s visit with her brother, Avery Jones at Cheyenne Wells, Colo. While there she attended a fam ily reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Venable of Roy, Utah, arrived Sept. 6 to visit her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Garner. They plan to remain for a week. Miss Kathy Alexander, a new Adrian teacher, is living in the house on the Louis Pratt farm. PERSONALS Mrs. Tom Johnson returned Sept. 1 from Washington where she visited a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Graham. She ac companied Mr. and Mrs. Pat Sweaney of Caldwell to the Washington area. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Dodge of Rainier, Wash, were Sept. 4 overnight guests of their cousin, Mrs. Tom John son. Mrs. Charles R. Smith was a Sept. 5 overnight guest of her sister, Mrs. Johnson. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Owen Froerer, Randy, Craig and Robbin spent Aug. 27 to Sept. 1 on a pack trip to the Wallowa mountain area.
