Pattee-is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Pattee of Nu Acres. The couple will make their new home at Westfir, Ore., where they both are employed. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Pattee are settled in their new home at Fort Lee, Va., according to word recieved by their par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Pat tee. The new restrooms are al most completed in the Community hall. The com mittee wishes to thank all who helped with the project. Spe cial thanks goes to the Farmers’ Co-op Ditch Co. and the Ontario Ready to Pour Con - Crete Co. for the use of their machinery and gravel. Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Otto and four children of McCall spent August 10 with their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Alden Bryan. Mrs. Bryan spent the evening of August 7 at Caldwell Me- morial hospital helping to care for her brother, Bill Wise. He is reported to be improving. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Troyer of Richland, Wash., spent a recent weekend with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Keck and Keith. Capt. and Mrs. Kenneth Keck and family left August 7 to go to Lafayette, In., whereCapt. Keck will enter Purdue University to work on his Master’s de gree in Mathematics. Mr. and Mrs. Jac Caward, Kelly and Jon, of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Char lie Caward of Caldwell, visited Aug. 7 with Mrs. Lucy Evans. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Evans attended the Whitney United Methodist church in Boise Aug. 10 where Mr. Evans gave the sermon for the 8:30 and 11:00 o’clock services. Later they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Don Haasch at a steak barbecue. Also they called on Mrs. Pauline Cairns on Sunrise Rim in Boise. Mrs. Pattee of Hayward, Calif., is visiting at the home of her son, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Pattee and family. She came for the wedding of her grandson, Dale. ~ -¿-ClUB NEWS Mrs. Jim (Judy) Grunke was honored by an Aug. 11 pink and white baby shower at the home of Mrs. John (Ann)Studer. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Bob (Jean) Kennedy, Mrs. Ray (Evelyn) Tarter and Mrs. Charles (Phyllis) Quinowski. Coffee, punch and hot bread was served. Door prizes were won by Mrs. Boyd (Lucille) Wilson, Mrs. Art (Eileen) Bos- selman and Mrs. Howard (Lucille) Myrick. Among the 25 women present were out-of-town guests, the honoree’s mother and sister, Mrs. William Lipscomb and Gin. of Eureka, Nev.; Mrs. Robert Kennedy’s mother, Mrs. Walter Hermann of Walla Walla, Wash.; friends of Mrs. Grunke, Mrs. Garth Cates of Caldwell and Mrs. Wayne Cowger of Boise. CHARLOTTE ELWOOD AROCK — It won’t be long until the W. W. Jones school bell will ring, and Arock is still minus one teacher. Mrs. Emily Daniel, who had accepted the post to teach fifth and sixth grade students, recently re signed. Interested, qualified patrons are asked to contact Mrs. Har- zel Fretwell, clerk of Malheur county school district 81, Jor dan Valley. Members of the board met recently to swear in new members. They are Mrs. Fred Biswell and Mrs. Harry Stoddard Ill. The group discussed pre liminaries in getting the school plant ready, and report the pur chase of a new bus. The cam pus will have a new community built concrete play area and all supplies have been purchased. School officials say they will pay $10 a day to area resi dents who are willing to help lay the concrete slab. This will be a fall project, slated to begin when the summer farm work is completed. Ivan is a nephew of H.R. Sherwood, and Frank is his cousin. APPLE VALLEY — Virgil Seward, who recently returned from summer school at Eugene, and Mrs. Jennie Seward were Aug. 5 visitors in the Dwight Seward home. Mrs. Mabel Fox and Mrs. Ethel Wild accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Seward to Nampa several evenings last week to attend the Nazarene Idaho-Oregon district camp meeting. Mrs. David Upshaw and chil dren visited Aug. 10 with Mrs. L. L. Hiner at Nampa. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hamil ton of Middleton were Aug. 10 evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. David Upshaw. Erin Davison of Caldwell is a houseguest of Ann Upshaw. A no-host basket dinner was served Aug. 4 in the Nyssa park in honor of Ralph Kellogg of Nampa, who left for foreign duty on Aug. 7. The dinner also honored the Rev. and Mrs. Jerry Leseberg and family of Caldwell, who leave soon for pastoral duty in Davenport, Iowa. In addition tothe Seward families of this area, there were many guests from Caldwell, Nampa, Ontario and Emmett. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Saunders and sons and a niece from Nampa left Aug. 6 for Kansas. They were called there by the illness and death of Saunder’s father, Boyd Saun ders at Hill City. Shirley Seward was a recent weekend guest of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Pierce and family in Boise. Trixie Wright and Stacy Rookstool were Aug. 9 evening guests in the Roy Rookstool home. Mrs. Sharon Cahill and daughters of Boise visited Aug. 7 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fay Collins. They visited with Mr. and Mrs. John Boston that evening. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Fritts visited July 31 with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schultze, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Duening all from Sacramento, Calif. They were camped at the Nyssa park for Thunderegg Days. On Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Fritts took the two couples to the Methodist ice-cream social at the Ernie Metcalf home, and later for a ride around the county to show them the many varieties of growing crops and industries. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Correll of Marysville, Wash., were July 31-Aug. 2 guests of his mother, Mrs. Nell Correll. Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Whittom of Boise were Aug. 4 guests of Mrs. Nell Correll. Mrs. Roy Rookstool was hos tess for the Aug. 4 Merry Ma trons’ annual picnic at her home. Mrs. Marvin and Mrs. Cora Rookstool visited Aug. 9 with Ed Price in Sunset Valley. Mrs. Helen Wilson and Don left July 25 on a vacation trip. They dined that evening with Mr. and Mrs. Gary Morgan of Meadows and were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Con ley Wilson at Pinehurst. At Orofino they visited Mr. and Mrs. Duane Fuller and family, going on to Spokane and to ChPlan, Wash., where they visi ted the Rev. and Mrs. Paul Ludlow. From here they went to Seattle to get Marilu who had spent a week in the Orley Smith home. They then went to Long Beach, Astoria, Tillamook and Portland. There Mrs. Wilson and Marilu were overnight guests of Mrs. Edith Teger- strand and Don was a guest of Marvin Jackson. They also visited with the Rev. and Mrs. Ralph Lawrence and family and returned Aug. 2 to their home. Mrs. Emma Moran and Suz anne left July 17 on a two- week vacation. They visited Mr. and Mrs. John Mdran and family at Kaysville, Utah and with Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Singer at Lyman, Wyo. Enroute home they visited Mrs. Blanche Price in Malad, Idaho, Mr. and Mrs. Luray Trabert in Twin Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Byram in Gooding. They arrived home July 31. Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Smal ley returned home Aug. 5 after a visit with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Daniels and family at Glenwood, Wash. They also went on a fishing trip to the coast where salmon and perch were caught, with everyone in the party getting a limit of fish. Mr. and Mrs. William Honey of Colorado Springs were re cent overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Honey. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Honey were Aug. 9 visitors in the Gene Honey home. It had been 56 years since William Honey had seen his cousins, Gene and Ernest. Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Hen shaw of Meridian were Aug. 11 luncheon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Smalley. Plan Camping Trip Members of Owyhee Riding club plan a three-day campout August 22-24 to Hazard lake, 20 miles south of New Meadows. Those making the tripwill meet at 3 p.m. Friday, August 22 at the *¥’ in Nyssa. Club members, their families and friends are invited. 444444444 News About SERVICEMEN Mrs. Annie Weldon arrived August 3 for a four-week visit with her sister, Mrs. L. E. Newgen. Another sister, Mrs. Lois Morris of Snelling, Calif., visited August 4-8 in the Newgen home. Miss Janice Richards was feted with an Aug. 2 luncheon bridal shower at the Wilton Jackson home. Mrs. Gary Ma son of Klamath Falls and her mother, Mrs. Jackson were co hostesses. There were 14 of Miss Ri chards class mates and their mothers present. She was gi ven a white scrapbook contain ing "Advice to the Bride” from each guest. They were returning from the coast where they did some salmon fishing. They also visited Mrs. Boekweg’s brother, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Beckstead west of Nyssa. Mrs. E. J. Marquardt and children of San Diego arrived Aug. 4 to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Carroll and other relatives. On Aug. 5, they went to Boise to take Ray Carroll who returned to his air base at Wichita, Kans., after a four-day visit here. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Bullard and Alan Bullard went to McCall recently and remained for three days. Mr. and Mrs. George Boyack and Nancy of Meridian joined them there. Mr. and Mrs. Orval Brawley of Green Forest, Ark., and her daughter, Mrs. Frank Lazona and twochildrenof Tulsa,Okla., recently visited for three days in the George Moeller home. They had been visiting their daughter, Mrs. Carl Pettet and family in Salem. Mrs. Brawley is a former resident of Arcadia. It was her first visit here in 32 years. They left August 4 for Salem and planned to leave Portland the following Monday by plane for Arkansas. Todd Cindell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Cindell, spent a recent week with his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Richardson in Boise. Mr. and Mrs. George Moel ler, Mr. and Mrs. Orval Brawley visited August 1 with the women’s 90-year-old aunt, Margaret Pruitt in a Boise Nursing home.
