TLE NYSSA GATE CITY JOURNAL, NYSSA, IO'/ N PAGE FOUR THURSDAY, DECEMBER 26. 1368 TV CC Plans Classes Nyssa Schools Pick Members Of Committee Two members of the budget committee ot the Nyssa school district were elected recently, it was reported by Clerk Dir ick Nedry. New board members who will work with the school board on the 1969-70 budget are Cyrus Bock and John Studer. Both men will serve a three-year term and are replacing Gene DeMinck, who has moved from the area and Roy Holmes, whose term has expired. Nedry said the 1968 school census just completed revealed 2,072 students in the district be tween the ages of 4 and 19. This is up 216 students from the last census. An agreement was enacted between the Nyssa and Fruit land school boards whereby two Fruitland district students, liv ing on an island in the Snake River, will attend Nyssa high school. The Fruitland district will pay the tuition. KAREN CANNON Her engagement to Brian Cleaver is announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cannon, Jr. of route 1, Nyssa. The future bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Cleaver of route 2, Nyssa. Miss Cannon is presently at tending Western Beauty college at Ontario, and her fiance is enrolled at Treasure Valley Community college. A definite wedding date has not been selected by the betrothed couple. ML. PAULUS JEWELRY MAULDING CLINIC NYSSA VARIETY STORE Mrs. Mabelle McKag WORKS OF LOCAL ARTIST DISPLAYED AT NYSSA LIBRARY Currently on display in the Nyssa public library is the sec ond groigi of paintings by Nyssa Artist Mrs. Virginia Brandt. This month’s display features ‘Mitchell Butte’ - 1963; ‘Owyhee Lake’ - 1962 and the ‘Owyhee River’ - 1967. These works were chosen to hang in the Boise art gallery. During January, Mrs. Brandt will show three paintings demonstrating a different tech nique in handling oils. Sand was mixed with the oils to create ‘Sand and Sea,’ which was done totally with a.knife; ‘Sand and Desert,’ which includes some brush-work. Also displayed will be ‘Dusk On The Snake River.’ Residents of the are are cord ially invited to view the paint ings during regular library hours.
