In addition to a sack lunch, birthday cake was served. This was the final meeting in 1968. Next session will be held Tuesday, January 14, the weather permitting. Mrs. Lois Counsil, reporter. Mr. and Mrs. E. Otis Smith recently returned from Watts- onville, Calif., where they at tended the Dec. 7 wedding of their son, Kenneth. Thirteen women of the Nyssa area were present for the Dec. 12 meeting of the daytime home extension unit meeting held at Nyssa United Methodist church. A business meeting was held and a film on Czechoslovakia was shown. A talk on the WSCS National convention was also given. A potluck dinner was served at noon and featured Czech oslovakian food. Following the dinner hour, a craft class was conducted when those attending learned how to make Christmas trees from styrofoam cones and eye let materials. The bride-elect is a 1968 graduate of Payette high school and received a scholarship to the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma where she is a freshman. The future bridegroom is a 1968 graduate of Nyssa high school and is now employed at Hardy’s shoe store in Tacoma. REMAINS IN COMA Mrs. John Kygar went to Walia Walla, Wash., during the recent Thanksgiving holidays and saw her brother, Charles Doty, Jr., who remains in the Veterans' hospital there and has been in a coma for several years, after suffering injuries in an accident. She reports that his condition remains about the same as in the past, with no visible change. Mrs. Kygar also visited with Doty’s wife and daughters in Kennewick. Twelve Pollyanna club women held their annual Christmas dinner-meeting Dec. 5 at Two Boys Inn in Ontario. They then went to the Idaho Power build ing at Vale, where Mrs. Odie Anderson gave a demonstration on candy making. Next meeting will be Jan. 2 at the home of Dorothy Fox. Mrs. Earl Kygar was a guest at the Thursday meeting. Jan Phifer, who attends col- leg at Clarkston, Wash., ar rived Dec. 6 and spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Phifer. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Phifer were Dec. 7 evening guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lee Hill and family, after the Adrian ball game. Mrs. Herchel Thompson vis ited Dec. 2 with Mrs. Ed Ned row. The following day Mrs. Nedrow went to the Ontario hospital, where she was exam ined by a specialist from Boise. They decided no surgery will be necessary at this time, hoping her neck injury will cor rect itself in time. Recent weekend guests in the Nedrow home were Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Parks of Pendleton. Mrs. Tony Martinez and Juanita were Dec. 7 evening visitors in the Nedrow home. Mrs. Klaas Laan returned Monday night after spending several days in Moscow, Ida. visiting her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Martin and fam ily. She was there for the sec ond birthday celebration of her granddaughter, Tracy. 372-2183-»-» Mrs. Bertha Wimpy, who ar rived Nov. 27 and had been visiting her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Schafer, left re cently by plane for Tustin, Calif, where she will visit her daugh ter and family. Mrs. Oscar Schafer recieved word Sunday morning that her mother, Mrs. LaVada Lenaghen of Boise, is seriously ill and in a hospital there. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Schafer and Mrs. Bertha Wimpy were recent evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Mar shall in Meridian. Mrs. Wimpy spent the night with them. Mr. and Mrs.Charles Bowers returned Dec. 7 from a trip to Arnold, Nebr., where they at tended the funeral of Mrs. Rol lin Bowers. They left Nov. 12. While on their trip they visited relatives and friends including, Mr. and Mrs. Darryl Hircok and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Stott at Gothenburg, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Phifer at Mason City, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bowers at Pine Bluffs, Wyo. Mrs. Bowers spent a week vis iting Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Hatch and other relatives and friends in Newton, Iowa, where she lived prior to her marriage. She saw cousins whom she had not seen for nearly 50 years. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Walters of Boise were Dec. 7 evening din ner guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Howell of Wilder were recent visitors with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Ballou.
