FORMER STUDENTS OF THE NYSSA HIGH school class of 1958 held their ten-year reunion on August 10-11, 1968. During a Saturday evening banquet at East Side cafe in Ontario, John Marsh of Nyssa served as master of ceremonies. After the banquet, some special awards were made. Among award recipients were Annabel Arai Nel- son, who came the greatest distance for the gathering; Jean Pratt Jones, classmate with the eldest child; Jim Barnes, one who had lost the most hair; Wilma Smit Sams, class mate with the youngest child; Dahl Olsen and Charles Klinkenberg, who have never married. Following the dinner, members of the class met for a party at the Eagles’ Lodge SUNSET VALLEY ACTIVITIES -------------------------- BY FREDA ASTORECA SUNSET VALLEY - Approx imately 15 guests were present at an August 24 birthday party honoring Gloria Lorensen on her ninth anniversary. Mrs. Harrier Turner was an August 22 guest of honor at a birthday dinner in the Ken Lorensen home. Tamara and Shawn Webb were August 24 overnight guests of Gloria and Harriet Lorensen. Mrs. Bonnie Hatch and baby son, Gabriel Travis spent Aug. 22-23 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Astoreca. Audrie and Carmen Astoreca returned home with Mrs. Hatch to help care for the new baby for several days. The class of 1958 students who were present for the reunion are pictur ed above and are (1 to r - seated) Ralph Poulson, Norma Benedict Lienkaemper, Wilma Smit Sams, Eva Lu Beus Kent, Judy Watts Thomas, Elaine Glover Ba st iam, er Bay. They report very good fishing luck. Mrs. E. J. Hob son traveled as far as Junction City with the Langleys, and remained there to visit rel atives. August 25 dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Langley were Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Holcomb, Russell Cochran, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Langley and sons. Even ing visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Homer Brewer. Mrs. Mamie Dudley of Twin Falls is visiting for two weeks with her sister, Mrs. Myrtle Hillis. On August 25 the two women were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cook Mitchell. Worthwhile club women met August 22 in the home of Mrs. Frank Holub. Mr. and Mrs. Elver Nielsen dined August 24 at East Side cafe and later visited with Mrs. Effie Nielsen, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Nielsen. The Elver Nielsens attended church ser vices in Homedale on August 25 and were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nielsen. Mrs. Phil Breshears of Ros well and Mrs. Neil Breshears of Rupert spent August 24 visit ing Mrs. Wayne Robb. Later in the afternoon the women visited Mrs. Gabe Astoreca. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Robb were among those attending the 1947-1948 AHS class reunion events held during the weekend. Gwen and Julie Robb visit ed August 24 with SandraWard. Mrs. Wayne Robb and daughters were August 21-22 visitors in Boise. NEWS FROM BIG BEND BY GOLDIE ROBERTS BIG BEND - Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Chaney and family left August 23 for Eugene to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Bishop. Dr. and Mrs. James Hollings worth and family of Boise visit ed on the evening of August 20 with Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Hig gins. John Samer is a patient in Holy Rosary hospital at On tario. Miss Linda Bishop returned to Grants Pass onAugust 20. She will be teaching there again this year. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Witty took Miss Eva Schempp to see Mrs. Tina Schiemer in the New ell Heights area on the evening of August 19. The Wittys took Mrs. Schempp to Boise Aug, 20 when she boarded a plane for Illinois. z Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Seuell and Lois, and Mrs. Beatrice Coons attended the A2-B East-West football game Sat- Saturday evening in Pendleton. The East squad emerged as winner. Tim Tailman was a member of the winning team. Mrs. Myra Walter and Glor ia of Weiser took Mrs. Ted Avery to Boise on August 22 when she consulted with her doctor. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Loomis and Lorraine of Portland left recently after a ten-day visit . ............ .. with Mrs. Grace Worden, and her mother, Mrs. William Kin ney. Miss Helen Hatch of Ontario visited August 25 with Mr. and Mrs. James McGinnis. Mrs. Dyre Roberts attended the Happy Dozen card session held August 23 in the home of Mrs. Luit Stam in Newell Heights. Mrs. Arthur Gale visited re cently with her daughter, Mrs. Florence Kiholm in Boise. Ricks Gale took her to Idaho Falls August 24 to visit a broth er who is ill. Dotty and Roger Knapp of Ox nard, Calif., children of Richard Knapp, visited recently with Gayle Clucas. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Miller and children returned recently from a vacation spent in the Tetons and Yellowstone park. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Wood and family of Nyssa were August 23 evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wood. Mrs. Susannah Councilman of Roswell and her sisters, Mrs. Lucy Shaffer and Mrs. Clara Beuhler were August 23 evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bennett. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Witty left recently for Corvallis to visit Dr. and Mrs. John Witty. In Newberg they visited Mrs. Wit ty’s relatives, returning home Saturday evening. Mrs. Pearle Abbott and fam ily spent from August 21 until the following Saturday camping at Terrace lake near Crouch. Jim Sheehan left August 24 to return to the Air Force base at Biloxi, Miss. Mrs. Sheehan and Margaret remained for a longer visit with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Clucas and Gayle attended the Rucker- Churchill wedding performed on the evening of August 24 in Boise. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Miller entertained on the evening of August 20 in honor of Dan- ny’s birthday anniversary. Mrs. Eva Schluntz of Re publican City, Nebr., arrived on the evening of August 20 to visit with her sister, Mrs. Chet Smith and family. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wood of Marsing were August 25din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wood. Jolly Janes met August 21 for a picnic dinner at the home of Mrs. Horace Chaney. Among those attending was a guest, Mrs. Eva Schluntz. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Millerwere among those attending the alumni banquet for the 1947- 1948 graduates of Adrian high school. Durnil of Ten Davis; and their son, Wilbur Durnil and family of Caldwell were August 25 after noon visitors at the M. L. Kurtz home. Mrs. Durnil and Mrs. Kurtz are sisters. Mrs. Marie Moore and son, Hank; Julie and Steve Hogue attended the Adrian high school 1947-48 class reunion banquet at East Side cafe. The dinner was served Saturday evening, August 24. The foursome also attended the reunion picnic din ner on Sunday at the Adrian school cafeteria. Miss Vic Espinosa of Boise and her mother and sister of La Pumpa, Calif., were Aug. 25 afternoon visitors in the homes of Mmes. Frankie and Lydia Worden. Mrs. Thelma Hammon; her son, Bill and daughter, Mrs. Stan Parsons were August 24 dinner guests of Mrs. GustCon- radt in Ontario. Mrs. Conradt is leaving early in September to reside in Seattle. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Swanson of Roswell were August 25 afternoon and evening visitors in the Thelma Hammon home. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Eddy and family left August 20 to visit the Jack Earnests in La Grande. They then went on to Portland to visit Eddy’s mother near Forest Grove. From there they went to Albany to visit the James McKinley family, returning to the R. D.
