They have now re turned to their home in Calif PERSONALS ornia. • • * Mr. and Mrs. Marion Glenn arrived home August 11 after visiting sites of interest la LaVora Smith She recently completed the practical nurses course of Caldwell Memorial hospital and was among those participating in graduation exercises held on the evening of August 8, 1968. The rites were conducted at the LDS church located at Twelfth and Everett streets in Caldwell. LaVora is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Smith of the Mitchell Butte area, was graduated in 1960 from Adrian high school and served as sec retary for the class of nurses. She is presently employed at the Blakely nursing borne tn Caldwell. Idaho. They camped at Low- man; visited Sun Valley, Idaho Falls and at Arco, the home at their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin (Sherrie)Crawford. They were present for a quiet cele bration of the first birthday nniversary of Glen Crawford. • ♦ » Wayne Riggs of Corvallis re cently made a hurried trip home to visit his parents, Mr. aad Mrs. Lewis Riggs. Mrs, Mar jean Bryson, Kathy and Ricky of Tacoma, Wash., were August 12 dinner guests of her aunt, Mrs. Lewis Riggs. They had been vacationing and visit ing relatives at Rigby, Idaho, and were enroute home whoa they stopped in Nyssa. • • • Members of the Dan Mundy family are planning a family reunion Saturday and Sunday, August 17-18 at the family borne. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Peterson and Dee Ann returned home Aug ust 7 from a “long-awaited” trip. They left July 26 by jet liner for Greenville, Mich., to visit their son, Delbert Peter son who is LDS presiding bis hop there. The Nyssa trio accompanied their son and his family by auto to Palmira, N. Y. where they saw the LDS pageant, “Wit ness For Christ”. They also went to Kirkland, Ohio where they visited the first LDS temple ever to be built. They also visited the jail in Carthage, Ill., site of the Kill ing of Joseph Smith. They went to Nauvoo where the LDSpeople settled, but were driven out. Some of the buildings there are being renovated, however, the temple was destroyed, Mrs. Peterson said. The travelers then returned to Greenville, and the Peter sons came on home by jet. They report traveling 5,000 air miles and 3,000 miles by auto. Mrs. Peterson said they had a wonderful trip, but it felt good to be back in ‘dry’ country where their clothing didn’t feel like it was sticking to their bodies. PAGE THREE Ellen Jones Attends Meeting In Chicago Mrs. Ellen Jones returned home August 9 from a trip to Chicago where she attended an advanced seminar of classes in Forensic Graphoanalysis. In structor was Professor Andre A. Moensens, Director for Criminal Justice of the Chicago-Kent College of Law. Among special events attended by IGAS members was a Bunker breakfast with New York Senator Murry Schwartz, as keynote speaker. The annual ‘night out’ included a cruise on Lake Michigan and the Chi- cago river, followed by a din ner and entertainment at Marina City in downtown Chicago. On Thursday evening the members attended the annual banquet and heard an address by Dr. Duncan Wimpress, presi dent of Monmouth College of Monmouth, Ill. Approximately 400 members were in attend ance and all classes were held in Chicago’s Sheraton Hotel. Enroute home Mrs. Jones visited a step son, former Nyssan Mr, and Mrs. R.C. Jones in Clinton, and Mrs. Irene Earl in Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Sturling Matthews at Longmont and Mrs. Willard Trimble in Broomfield, Colo. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Schir?- man and three sons of Medford, Ore., were recent visitors at the Mrs. Frank Byers; her home of his parents, Mr. and sister, Mrs. Ethel Lay and a Mrs. William Schireman. While friend, Mrs. Frances Kratzberg here his sister, Mr. and Mrs. left August 2 for Lewiston, Ida., Fred (Phyllis) Ginder and to visit with Mrs. Byers’ daugh daughter, Carol of Gardena, ter, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Calif., arrived.
