Out-of-state guests included Mrs. Ron Malcolm, of Wiscon sin Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Wallace of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ewell of Ana heim, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mosso of Bellflower, Calif., Mrs. James O. Stephen and girls of Burns, Mark Stephen of Cor vallis, Mr. and Mrs. John Wal lace of Hailey, Idaho. The bride is a Nyssa high school graduate and recently was employed by the Internal Revenue service in Washington D. C. The bridegroom is a graduate of Lincoln high school and served four years with the U. S. Army Security Agency, with one year in Vietnam. He is presently employed at the Nekoosa Edward Papercom pany in Wisconsin Rapids. The bride’s traveling cos tume was a two-piece yellow knit ensemble. The newlyweds plan a wedding trip of the western United States and Canada. They will make their home at 457 Miller Ave., Wis consin Rapids. IT TAKES BOTH ENDS To Get the Job Done Right Even For a Dairy Cow: BESTWAY BUILDING CENTER An Emblem club social meeting was held May 27 at the Elks lodge hall. Entertain ment for the evening was a program on ceramics. Mrs. Hon, and two assistants, Mrs. Gentry and Mrs. Cramer gave a brief resume on how the items are made. Mrs. Gentry recently won a "Freddy’’ in a ceremic show at Caldwell where she took top honors on a stein. Many lovely ceramic items were on display. PAULA LEE CLEAVER CONNIE LEE PRICE Her engagement to Jesse Ray Windom is announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Price. Her fiance is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Windom of Farmville, N. C. The bride elect was graduated from Nyssa high school, attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa and Treasure Valley Community college. The future-bridegroom was graduated from Farmville high school and is presently serving with the U. S. Air Force stationed at Wurtsmith AFB in Michigan. A late October wedding is being planned by the betrothed couple. Mr. and Mrs. Garner Cleaver of Unionville, Iowa announce the engagement of their daughter, Paula Lee to Dwight E. Jones of Centerville. Both attended and graduated this spring from Centerville junior college. Jones plans to attend Iowa State university this fall to continue his study in engineering. Miss Cleaver is a granddaughter of Nyssans Mr. and Mrs. John Cleaver, and has a number of other relatives in this area. The Cleaver family has visited in the Nyssa vicinity on several occasions. Plans are being made for an August 24, 1968 candlelight wedding ceremony. Emblem club women held a meeting on June 10 at the Elks temple. Reports on the 12th annual Oregon convention were given. Those attending the state meeting in Brookings included Ruth McIntyre, Diana Ingalls, Arlene Allison and Zena Fritts. The foursome also comprised a bowling team for an Emblem tournament. Others attending were President Mary Jenson, Junior Past President Evelyn Shaw, Past President Helen Molnig; Melita Fife, past state president and past president of Ontario Emblem club 192; and Nellie McDaniels. President Mary Jenson ser ved as delegate pro tern for Virginia Hoyle, second assis tant marshal. Evelyn Shaw was elected to the state office of fourth vice president. Ontario Emblem club . . To Celebrate Silver Event An open house reception will be held from 2:30 to 5 p.m., p.m. Sunday, June 23, 1968 at the honorees’ home on Grove road in the Oregon Slope community. Hosts for the silver an niversary celebration will be the Shaw’s sons, Herbert and Don. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend. The Shaws’ request is "no gifts - please!*’ women are looking forward to having the state convention at Ontario in four years. The state group passed a bond measure to give two $50 bonds (to be taken from scholarship fund) on patriotism. This will go to one junior high and a senior high school student. Verna Coffinberry was pre sented a trophy for the most hours of community service. She had a total of 1432 hours. Emblem club 192 has been asked to serve the golf ban quet, with Ruth McIntyre as kitchen chairman; and Verna Coffinberry serving as dining room chairman. The Elks in vited the women to attend their Flag Day services. Next blood drawing will be from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on July 1 at the Elks temple. Bea Kanrich won the kitty; and a white elephant, given by Evelyn Shaw, was auctioned: Highest bidder was Pat McCoshum. Emblem club 192 will hold their last social meetingfor the summer at 8 p.m. Monday, June 24. This will be a barbecue at the Ontario Lions park, and will honor husbands of Emblem club members. Each one is asked to take a salad or dessert and own table service. In case of inclimate weather the group will meet at the lodge hall. ATTENTION!
