YOUTHFUL KEGLERS ADVANCE TO STATE Four junior bowlers from Nyssa have qualified for the Oregon State Junior Bowling association tiairnament to be staged Feb. 24-25 and March 2-3 at Cascade Lanes in Port land. The youthful keglers qualified at the Region 6 tourney staged Jan. 20-21 and Jan. 27-28 at Desert lanes in Hermiston. Among those qualifying for the state ev»nt are Nyssans Billy Marcum and Hal Brendle in singles and doubles; Kevin Engstrom, singles, and Harry Brendle, doubles. The regional tourney was under supervision of Nyssan Kay Brendle. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Mar cum, Bill and Sara went to Hermiston during a recent weekend to visit her sister, Bonnie House. Bill participated in the regional bowling tourna ment and qualified for tin1 state tourney in singles and doubles. ONTARIO. JOHN DAY. BURNS DOWN MIS BASKETBALL LADS The NHS Bulldogs suffered three hoop losses during the past week, as they were downed on the evening of Jan. 23 by the Tigers of Ontario, on Fri day evening by the John Day Prospectors and on Saturday evening by th«1 visiting hoops- ters from Burns. Even though Bulldog Dan Wil son was high man with 18points in the Tuesday evening contest, the Ontario lads won the game by a 70-53 final tally to remain in contention for the SRV A-1 title. Ontario jumped to an 11-9 first-quarter leadandcontinued to open the gap throughout the game. Mike Echanis paced the Tigers with 15 counters, fol lowed by Gary McCamey with 14. Mrs. Jerry Myrlck and Vicki of Pendleton arrived Jan. 26 to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Tensen and her hus band’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Myrick. They returned home Sunday. Other Nyssa points were tossed into the circles by Gary Ross and Jim Beck, 8 each; Scott Jefferies and John Shell, 6 apiece, Colin Chester, 3; L. Wilson and Elguezatml. 2 each.
