In staging ’Antigone’ Treasure Valley Community college brings to theater patrons another new experience. The (¡reek tradgedy usesa nonentity conscience. In ’Antigone’ it is a single-person chorus who ties characters to the plot. The set is the traditional collanaded amphitheater, but the setting Is modernday. The characters retain their age old names, but portray twentieth century persons. Mrs. Richard Callaham and children of McCall were recent overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bowers. Relatives from a distance who came to attend services for Berle Hiifer included Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hdfei, Mt. and Mrs. Kenneth Phifer and daugh ters of Madras; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Phifer, Mrs. Larry Nice, and Dale Ptiifer of I4 Grande, Mr. and Mis. Bernard Phifer of Mason City, Nebr., Mrs. Eunice Phifer, Barbara, Steve and Loye and Mrs. Karon Davenport of Elko, Nev.; Mrs. Marvin Wright of Brd.se, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brown of Weiser, lairry Geiser of Boise also called at the Bowers home to visit relatives. Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Phifer and children of Battle Moun tain, Nev. returned home Jan. 24. They were accompanied by Mrs. Karon Davenport and Connie of Elko, Nev. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Phifer of Mason City, Nebr , returned v<o their home Friday. Mrs. Mary l^an and Mrs. Helen Bishop of Big Bend attended a county committee meeting last Monday at the home of Mrs. Ann Reeher in Ontario. They later called on Mrs. Helen Okai in Ontario. LOSE WEIGHT She had recently been released from the hospital. Mrs. Mary La an and Mrs. Dorothy Fox attended a recent extension sewing meeting at the home of Mrs. Varner Hopkins in Big Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Fox of Ontario were Jan. 27 after noon visitors in the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Don Fox. Mr. and Mrs. John Thiel and children of Boise were Jan. 28 dinner guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Fox. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lee Hill and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Phifer and Jan attended a J ACL diniiet Jan. 28 at Caldwell. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Osborn and family went to Emmett Jan. 28 to visit the Ray Church family, and Mrs. Osborn’s sister, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cal houn. Mrs. Carl Begeman received word Jan. 28 of the death of a cousin, Howard Van deWater a! Marion, Ind. The family lived in Kingman Kolony and in Big Bend before moving to that state in 1951. The deceased is a brother of W. C. and Boyce Van deWater of the Big Bend area. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bege man, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Witt, visited that afternoon with the Van deWater f.'nnlb . in Big Bend. Friends held a housewarming party for Mr. and Mrs. Pete Franks Saturday evening after the Adrian-Harper basketball game, in their new home at Skyline Farms near Ontario. During the evening Ted Monnaka presented the Franks’ with a money flower cart, a gift from the group. A potluck dinner and dancing were highlights of the evening. Attending from the Kingman Kolony area were the Earl Kygars, Dwayne Bennetts, Bob Bates’, and Carl Piercys. Mr. and Mrs. Klaas Laan were Jan. 28 afternoon visitors in the Al Thompson home. Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Thompson visited Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Mefford on the evening of Jan. 27. Sunday afternoon the Byers’ and Carson family were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Sommars at Notus. Later in the day they visited Mr. and Mrs. Elven Day and family at Caldwell. Elven had just returned home from the Nuclear Weapon school at San Diego, Calif. The Carson family left for home late Sunday after noon.
