•» <. > w Tw71* / * MR. AND MRS. G. W. KNOWLES These 30-year Nyssans celebrated their 60th (Diamond)anniver sary on July 30, 1967. Fifty-two guests attended the recent celebration. Among them were the couple’s son and daughter- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Knowles; their s ns-in-law and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Hiatt and family, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Morris, Mr. and Mis. Allen Jones and family, all of Nyssa, Mr. and Mrs. Ovid Rhoads of Bolchow, Mo., Mrs. Ralph Church of Outlook, Wash., and Mrs. Myrtle Andrews of Phoenix, Aril. Also present were the honorees’ grandchildren, Mr and Mrs. Jack Knowles and family, Mr. and Mrs. Everet Hiatt and family, Mr. and Mrs. Galen Hiatt, all of Nyssa. Mrs. W illis G. Hiatt and children of Parma, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Morris i.id family of Boise, Mrs. Frankie Morris and Scotty of Ontario, Rebecca and Holly Knowles of Boise. Mr. and M*s. Knowles were married July 31, 1907 in Medicine Lodge, Kans., and moved to the Nyssa area in 1937 when th< y began farming five miles southwest of Nyssa. They and their children grubbed 40 acres of land out of sagebrush. T ie couple farmed the same land until 1963 when they sold it anj retired in Nyssa. They now reside at 428 N. 11th street. As an anniversary gift, the Knowles’ children presented them with a colored television set. — Journal Photo. Muri Lancaster plans to re turn home today from Mercy hospital in Nam;>a. Entertain ment is being arranged, ac cording to Lecturer Betty Col lier. Late August Rites Unites Joy Klein, William G. Evans Miss Joy Anita Klein and William G. (Bill) Evans were united in marriage August 26, 1967 at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Klein in Arlington, Wash. The bridegroom was grad uated from Nyssa high school in 1964, and the following year enlisted in the US Navy. He is now stationed at Oak Harbor, Wash. He is a son of Mr and Mrs. Grady Evans of Heyburn, Idaho. The Evans couple and their children, Glenna, Kenneth and Susan were recent overnight guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ace Bishop in Nyssa. They were enroute home from Washington after attending the Wedding of their son. First meeting of the 1967- 68 year of the Ontario branch of American Association of Uni versity women will be held at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11 at the home of Mrs. Jerry Auyer in Vale.
