GO CLASSIFIED! FARMERS ASK US: Is Anhydrous Ammonia In irrigation water effective? APPLE VALLEY—Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bale and family moved during the weekend into Jack Wilson's tenant house. Mrs. Donna Curtis and girls of Boise and Jim Wilson of Ontario were Sunday guests of the Jack Wilson family. Mr. and Mrs. Vear Halle of Yes! Anhydrous ammonia in your irrigation water is an excellent and effective way to fertilize because: AS LOW AS 1300 A MONTH Donna Walker Injured In Fall, Has Surgery When the summer gets so hot it seems like a plot, there’s nothing like a steaming hot bath to take the kinks out of your muscles, the ache out of your bones. You’ll always have a plentiful supply of hot water for this and other purposes with flameless Quick-Recovery electric water heat ing. 1. Nitrogen in ammonia reacts with water forming ammonium ions(NH t). 2. Ammonium ions are carried below the soil surface and are held by clay and organic matter particles. 3. Ammonium nitrogen is readily available to plants and is a long- lasting form of nitrogen. 4. In one to three days, most of the ammonium nitrogen is converted by bacteria to nitrate (NO , ). 5. Nitrate nitrogen moves with the soil water throughout the root zone and is rapidly absorbed by plant roots. 6. Research shows ammonia in water reduces evidence of two diseases — early dying (verticillium wilt) and potato scab Istreptomyces). Anhydrous ammonia in water is not only effective, it’s an efficient way to fertilize. It’s easy to apply and since you probably were going to irrigate anyway, there’s little extra labor in volved. It also adds nitrogen when crops need it most and when they are too high to side-dress. Now would be a good time to give your crops a nitrogen boost with the help of the trained experts at your United States Steel Farm Service Center. You’ll find they have the equipment and professional know how to give your crops that needed nitrogen so essential for extra yield and profit.
