Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Simp son and family of Gresham, Ore., Mrs. Ray Simpson and Danny Holdt were Saturday dinner guests of the Johnnie Easons at Homedale. Eason’s sister was vis iting there from Washington. Mr. and Mrs. Buford Kuhn of Ephrata, Wash., and her mother, Mrs. Jessie Tucker of Homedale, visited Oct. 3 in the M. L. Kurtz •home. The Kuhns were on a two- month trip, planning to visit relatives and friends enroute to Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Kurtz went to Homedale Sunday afternoon and were accompanied home by their aunt, Mrs. Tucker, who re mained for a visit of several days. Speaks at Roswell Mrs. M. L. Kurtz spoke on Ethiopia at the Oct. 12 meeting of Roswell Presbyterian Mission ary association. As a part of her program she played a tape re cording of a speech made by her son, the Rev. Harold Kurtz, at the general assembly meeting held in May at Boston. Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Sid Hardman and daughters were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McGinnis of Nyssa and Mrs. Ada Rupprecht of Portland. The latter was a weekend guest in the Hardman home. Honors at Entrance Given Lynda Cundall At Whitman College An honors at entrance citation was awarded to Miss Lynda Cun dall during the fall convocation service held Sept. 23 at Whitman college in Walla Walla, Wash. According to information pro vided by the college, honors at entrance are awarded by west! coast collegiate members of the College Entrance Examination board to a limited number of en- 1 tering freshmen. These honors are given in recognition of out-j standing ability in high school and expectation of success in college. They carry no monetary grants and are awarded without regard to financial need. Selection for the award is based on scholarship, activities, citizenship and college entrance examination board scho lastic aptitude test scores.
