Frost Conducted at Vale The 54th Rebekah annual con vention of district 24, comprised of Nyssa, Vale and Ontario, was held Aug. 25 at Vale. Ernie Coutz <rf the host lodge served as chair man for the meeting and E. Mae Kafer of Glendale, president of the Rebekah Assembly of Ore gon, made an official visit during the session. Sophia Bethel of Harper gave a talk, reporting historical facts about the Odd Fellow lodge — when, where and by whom it was founded. Sept. 20 will mark the 115th anniversary of the IOOF and on this dale each lodge will present a special program in honor of the order. "Work Today for a Better morrow” was program topic this year's meeting. Nellie Newbill of Nyssa, Ada Butler of Ontario und Miranda Knowles of Vale were honored a* the oldest active members within the district and each was presented a gift. The meeting was held in the Vale Grange hall and women of that organization served an eve ning banquet for the Rebekahs. Miss Lynn Jackson, wearing a dress of lime-green linen and car rying a white nosegay, attended her sister as maid of honor. Eu gene Mason served as best man for his brother. A wedding cake, decorated with pink rosebuds and topped with white bells, graced the refresh ment table at a luncheon served in downtown Nyssa following the ceremony. A champagne recep tion was then held at the home of the bride’s parents. The newlyweds were both grad uated from Nyssa high school in 1966 and plan to reside in La Grande where they will study at Eastern Oregon college. The bridegroom served two years in the United States Air Force after graduating from Pay ette high school. He is a graduate of the University of Idaho at Moscow and has also been taking post-graduate courses at Oregon College of Education in Mon mouth and at the University of Oregon in Eugene. He is an intern supervisor in the Coos Bay school system and teaches junior high mathematics. Following a dhort honeymoon trip, the newlyweds are now re siding at 1850 West Anderson avenue in Coos Bay. II , „ Newell Heights — David High land and Olivine Feillng of Nam pa were united in marriage Sat urday morning, Aug. 27, 1966, at Winnemucca. Nev. Their attendant* were Sherry Thompson and Randy Felling, who accompanied them to the Nevada city. The newlyweds returned to th* Bob Kurtz home that evening and were honored with a surprise reception. They will presently reside in Nampa. *—* Garden Group Notes Meeting Date Change Owyhee Garden club meeting will be held at 2 o'clock Thurs day afternoon, Sept. 8, instead of Sept. 9 a* previously scheduled, it is reported by President Mrs. Ira Price. The session will be held at the home of Mrs. James Langley with Mrs. Wilbur Chapin assist ing as co-hostess. Mrs. Price states that a program is planned other than that which is stated in members' yearbooks.
