Married 45 Years Ago at Arcadia ♦ THURSDAY. JUNE 2. 1966 ♦ ♦ ♦ G. Mackey Couple Britt Nedry Couple Married 50 Years; Honored Sunday Reception Planned On Anniversary Mr. and Mrs Britt Nedry ob Mr. and Mrs. G. E Mackey of Adrian were honored Sunday afternoon at an open house re ception in observance of their silver wedding anniversary. Hosting the event were chil dren of the couple—Judith Lo- vitt, Joe, Larry, Laura and Gene Mackey. A three - tier cake, decorated with pink roses, silver bells and topped with miniature newlyweds and a 25th anniversary silver piece, graced the refreshment table. The cake was baked and ! decorated by Mrs. Horace Chaney A bouquet of 25 red roses was sent to the honored couple by their «on and daughter-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mackey and family. The flowers were placed on the table where Miss Pauline Butler registered the guests. Assisting with serving were Mrs. Mackey’s sister. Mrs. Lois Durocher of Boise who poured j coffee; Laura Mackey served the punch and following initial cut. of the cake, it was served by Mrs. Lovitt. Miss Butler read a brief his tory of the couple’s married life I and also an appropriate verse: Today’s a promise of happiness As future year* unfold— A promise of still greater love As silver turns to gold. The Mackeys then re-enacted the ring ceremony. Out-crf-town guests attending the reception were Mrs. Mackey’s motner, Mrs. Florence Gowey of! Boise; her brother - in - law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Lydy of Madras: her uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Billings of Caldwell; Mrs. Durocher and family. served their 50th wedding anni versary Wednesday, June 1, in Boise. Mr. Nedry is recovering from major surgery and expects to lie released from the Veterans’ hospital later this week. Mr. and Mrs. Dirick Nedry and daughters. Judy and Janet. Mar garet Staples and Miss Eva Boy dell visited with the elder Ned- rys on Memorial Day to celebrate the occasion. An open house re ception is planned later in the summer for friends and relatives. Britt Nedry and Elizabeth Boy dell were married June 1, 1916. at St. Paul's Episcopal church in Nyssa. Dr. J. J. Sarazin was best man and Eva Boydell served as maid of honor. The bridegroom was a teacher in the local schools at the time, served in the U. S. Navy during World War I and then returned to Nyssa for several years. The Nedry family moved to Ti gard, Ore., in 1922 and he was principal of the grade school un til 1939. Mr. Nedry later served two years with the National Youth administration, was field director for the American Red Cross during World War II. He published newspapers In Coeur d'Alene and McCall, Idaho, and retired in 1958. The couple presently resides at 220 North 22nd street in the Idaho capital city. Mr. and Mrs. Nedry became parents of three sons. Dirick of Nyssa; Boydell, who resides in Minneapolis. Minn.; and Ward, who died at age 16. They have six grandchildren. An open house reception held May 22 at the Arcadia home of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Bullard honored the couple on their 45th wedding anniversary. The event was hosted by the honorees’ children. Otis Bullard and Pearl Dail were united in marriage on May 22, 1921, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Dail of Arcadia and the couple has resided in that area dur ing their 45 years together. Be sure that smokers use large enough ash trays and check the match to see that it’s out. Of course, don’t smoke in bed. Some say they lose color along the edges of seams. This was true of some of the first garment* produced, but has been corrected for the most pari. Miss Glenn was graduated in 1963 from Nyssa high school and is presently a sopho more at Utah State university in Logan. She is majoring in forestry. Her fiance is a graduate student at USU and is majoring in animal science. The betrothed couple is planning a Sep tember wedding in the Latter - Day Saints temple at Logan. Mr and Mrs Rulon W Staples of route 2, Nyssa, announce the engagement of their daughter, Bonnie, to Ralph S. Weber, son of Mr. and Mrs Wilford Weber, route 1, Parma, The bride-elect is a graduate of Nyssa high school and was graduated in 1965 from Utah State university Miss Staples is presently teaching home economics in the junior high school at Centerville, Utah. First, plan work to save energy. Don’t make three trips when one will do. Alternate standing anil sitting jobs—and really try sit ting down for some work. Next, allow enough time to do things so there’s no need to rush. Don’t procrastinate—get ting started is half the battle. Third, make time for recreation and plan outside activities. Some may scoff at that! It’s not easy. Managing the whole homemaking job gives many opportunities for sharpening ingenuity.
