Those attending should take a sack lunch. In case of inclement weather, the session will be held in the Methodist church. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a m. und all area residents who are 55 years of age or older are invited to attend. Catches Big On« Oregon State university seniors who have qualified for member ship in Phi Kappa Phi, national scholastic honor society, accord ing to a release from the univer sity news bureau. To qualify for membership, seniors must rank scholastically in the top 12 percent otf their class. Parents of the honor students are Mr. and Mrs Melvin Spitze of the Arcadia community. Mr. and Mrs. Orson Leavitt of Nyssa. Ho was awarded a sterling sil ver honor pin. an honor emblem and a "Best in State" certificate by the publication, plus a listing in that magazine in recognition of his angling achievement. Chuck and his recent bride, the former Carol Reece, are now in I-a Grande where he is continu ing his studies in education at Eastern Oregon college. However, after receiving the news release from the Sports Afield director and upon calling at the home of Chuck’s parents, Mr and Mrs. M J. Corak at 121 Park avenue in Nyssa, a picture, of the fisherman and his prize-I winner was secured for publica-I tion in the Journal. The photo was taken by Mrs Corak in the kitchen of the par- ental home shortly after Chuck , and two of his friends returned from the successful fishing trip. DAUGHTER VISITS BROWNS Miss Glenda Brown arrived last Thursday at the Boise airport from New York City and plans to spend several weeks with her parents, Mr and Mrs Glenn Brown, Gene, Colleen and Tim. Miss Brown has been on nursing duty at Columbus hospital in New York. Prior to her leaving for Nyssa, she and a girl friend had I i recently returned from a 10-day I vacation in Jamaica. Corak, one of Nyssa’s better fishermen, recently gained national recognition through Sports Afield magazine for catching the biggest largemouth bass in Oregon, during statewide competition throughout the past year.
