His work was very satisfactory which reflects the good training he has been given tn the past months. "He will have a job waiting for him in our body shop when he returns to this area.” This week the youth received a certificate of completion from the Job Corps Center after having ; successfully completed a voca tional course in automotive trades and is now enroute to his job in Idaho. The Job Corpsman is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jose Miranda of 219 North Second street in Nyssa. Mary Miller Rites Conducted Friday At Nyssa Cemetery Graveside rites for Mary Haines Pennington Miller were conduct ed at the Nyssa cemetery Friday afternoon. Jan. 7, 1966, under di rection of Lienkaemper funeral home. Mrs. Miller succumbed Wednes day evening, Jan. 5. at the nurs ing home in Vale where she had been residing for approximately three years. She was born June 29, 1885, in Kansas. On Feb. 24, 1915, she was married to Lee Miller at Gol den, Colo., and the family came to Nyssa in 1936. Mr. Miller, long time custodian for the Nyssa schools, succumbed Nov. 26. 1960. Survivors include one son. Don ald Miller of Hermiston, Ore.; a daughter, Mrs. Iris Blake of Har per, Ore.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. HONOR STUDENT AT OSU James E. Benedict is listed on the fall term honor roll at Oregon State university in Corvallis. He is a sophomore in the School of Engineering and a son of Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Benedict. To be eligible for the honor i roll, students must have at least , a B-plus average for the term. GUESTS IN ELDREDGE HOME Mr. and Mrs. Tom Eldredge entertained with Sunday dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eldredge, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Brown. Mrs. Mattie Sargent and Mrs. Oliver Bingaman, all of Fruitland. Mr. and Mrs. John Metzler. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Eldredge of Boise. have completed individual com bat training with the Second In fantry Training regiment at the Marine Corps base. Camp Pendle ton. Calif. Parents of the young Marines are Mrs. Norma Zikmund. Mr. and Mrs Earl Ward, all of rural Nyssa. According to a recent Marine Corps release, t h e completed course included instruction under simulated combat conditions in small unit tactics in both conven tional and guerrilla warfare, day and night combat, reconnaissance and combat patroling and the ef fective use of infantry weapons. The Marines then underwent two weeks of basic specialist training in their occupational fields. PLAN ANNUAL DINNER Several members of the APM (Mexican PTA) met Sunday af ternoon at the Irl Nolen home to plan their annual dinner which has been slated for Feb. 13. Pro ceeds will be added to scholar ship funds sponsored by the group.
