Election of officers for the com ing year was held with Mrs. Jor dan named president; Mrs. I. H. Findley, vice president; and Mrs. Greg Ross, secretary-treasurer. Mrs. Lee demonstrated the crea tion of flowers from silk organza and refreshments were served at the close of the meeting. May session will be in the home of Mrs. Clifford Harris. ARRIVING IN NYSSA last Friday morning by bus were these executive officers and directors of Pacific Cooperatives who made a call at the Nyssa Co op Supply plant and visited various other units in Treasure Valley. Fourth man from the right is James Hill of Pendleton, presi dent of Pacific's board of directors. The visitors are from Washington, Oregon and Idaho. He suffered a head concussion, bro ken ribs, bruises and cuts. He hopes to be able to return home this week but will be confined i‘closely to his bed and will still need rest and quiet. Mrs. Roger Holm and Tyra of Portland arrived last week to spend several days with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hunt. MEXICAN ALLIANCE CLUB PLANS SATURDAY CAR WASH Car washing activities will be going on all day Saturday, April 17, at Phillips “66,” Sinclair and Shell service stations by student members of the NHS Mexican Alliance club. The students promise pickup and delivery service for those who contact them at one of the three Nyssa stations. They plan to use some of the proceeds to assist a former fellow student, Carlos Parra, now study ing art in New York City. The remainder will be used to finance their various projects. Officiating minister was the Rev. Wayne Wardwell of Kirk patrick Memorial Presbyterian church. Interment was made in the Parma cemetery. Mr. Leigh, who succumbed Sun day at his home, was born March 26, 1909, in the Apple Valley community and during World War II served for four years in the U. S. Navy. On Aug. 22, 1942, he was united in marriage to Nellie Magini at Boston, Mass. He was active in Boy Scout work and for 14 years was a member of the board of directors for the Parma - Notus highway district, serving part - time as board chairman. He and his bro ther, Milton, operated theaters for several years in New Ply mouth, Parma and Wilder until selling in 1944. Mr. Leigh was a member of Kirkpatrick Memorial church. In addition to his widow, he is survived by a son, Nathan, and daughter, Susan Leigh, both of Parma. Erik is in this country under sponsorship of the American Scandinavian foundation and has been working in U.S. Coast-to-Coast stores since Aug. 1, learning business and retail methods. The present training he is getting will qualify him io run his own hardware store when he returns to Denmark. He states that the biggest difference in retail stores in the U. S. and his native country is that in Denmark, hardware stores sell nothing but hardware. All firms close at 5:30 weekdays, at 2 p.m. Saturdays and none are open on Sunday.—Staff Photo. Art Show Scheduled April 23-24 in Vale The second Malheur county art show will be held April 23-24 at Grace Lutheran church, located at Yakima and F streets in Vale. Entries are due at the church on Thursday, April 22; however, they will be accepted at an earlier date between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 280 A street in Vale if the Thursday date is incon venient. Pictures should be matted or framed for hanging. Exhibits may be viewed between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m., 6 and 9 p.m. on Friday, April 23, while the Sat urday display time is from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Exhibitors are asked to pick up their entries between 5 and 7 o’clock Saturday evening. Roberson, Marine corps recruiter, announces that he will be at the Nyssa post office from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 22. At that time he will talk with young men who are interested in obtaining information on qualifi cations required to enlist in the U. S. Marine corps. ERIC BOENIG HAS SURGERY IN CALIFORNIA HOSPITAL Mr. and Mrs. Eric Boenig and her son, Knute Stoneberg, arrived Sunday evening from San Fran cisco where Boenig recently un derwent major surgery at Mt. Zion hospital. Stoneberg is sta tioned with the U. S.
