Members of the Payette Lions club will assist with serv ing. Those residing in the valley 50 years or more are invited to at tend. They are asked to take their family and longtime friends. The evening will be spent visit ing. VISIT FROM MONTANA Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pounds and family left Friday for their home in Glendive, Mont., after spend ing a week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Pounds. The Joe Pounds family and Mrs. C. M. Pounds spent Tuesday of last week with Edith Pounds in La Grande. The Montana family spent Wednesday with friends at Burns and Riverside. OT GRANGE PICNIC HELD SUNDAY AT PRICE HOME Oregon Trail Grange picnic was held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Price, Sr. Among the 43 persons attending the pot luck dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holub, Leslie Topliff, Mrs. Don Share and children who were guests. Grange members decided to hold the picnic on the first Sun day in August during future years. PAGE THREE Albert L. Stockdale Joins Regular Army ASA WINCHESTER LEAVES FOR ALASKA EMPLOYMENT Asa Winchester left July 26 for Anchorage, Alaska, where he is working for a pipeline contractor. He left from the Ontario airport and arrived in Anchorage five minutes earlier than his departure from Seattle due to crossing the time belts. Members of the family plan to join him soon and have set Aug. 25 as tentative date of their de parture. The Winchesters came to Nyssa from Arkansas approxi mately eight years ago. Albert L. Stockdale, son of Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Stockdale of Nys sa, recently volunteered for three years of service in the regular U. S. Army, according to Sergeant First Class Joseph M. He studied basic military law, customs and etiquette, seaman ship and basic knowledge of ship board routine. Also included in the training was extensive military drill, first aid, swimming, water survival tactics and physical fitness.
