THURSDAY, MAY 21, 1964 THE NYSSA GATE CITY JOURNAL, NYSSA, OREGON PAGE NINE Activities Play Day, Picnic Slated May 28 ai Apple Valley School Weekend Attended by Mothers By Mrs. Waldo Smalley APPLE VALLEY—The last day of school picnic will be held on Thursday, May 28, at Apple Val ley school. Those planning to at tend are asked to take own table service and a picnic lunch. The PTA will furnish punch and cof fee for everyone and an ice cream dixie cup for each child. Play day activities will begin at 9 a.m. with a picnic dinner at noon. All area residents are wel come to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Samuels of Boise, former Apple Valley resi dents, were Sunday afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Shep pard of Nu Acres. Mr. and Mrs. David Upshaw and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Hiner at Nampa. Mr. and Mrs. Conley Wilson were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Dick at Nampa. Cub Scouts Visit Boise Helen Wilson and Josie Kora took Cub Scouts of pack 215 on a round trip train ride to Boise Saturday. They had lunch at the Thunderbird cafe, went to Julia Davis park, the zoo, museum and art gallery. Johnny Sells, Don Wilson, Matthew Kora and Masa Kora, Jr., were boys taking the trip. Mrs. Emma Russell of Boise was a recent guest for a week in the home of her son, F. L. Rus sell. Mrs. Roy Rookstool attended the Royal Neighbors convention held Saturday in Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Shippy and Danny were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Boston. Mrs. Vincent Farrell, Glenda Carpenter and children visited Saturday evening with his moth er, Mrs. Carrie Davis who is in the Blakley nursing home at Caldwell. Move Into New Residence Mr. and Mrs. Alex Wagner moved into their new home last Thursday and Mr. and Mrs. Dave Lowe and family moved Saturday into the house vacated by the Wagners. Mr. and Mrs. Sam King enter tain«! with a dinner last Thurs day evening honoring Mr. and Mrs. Gene Honey on their 40th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Clyde of Portland were May 13 overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Rus sell. Keith Russell of Portland was a recent weekend guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rus sell. Mr. and Mrs. Fay Collins were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cahill at Parma. Sue Dibble and Janice Howard of Nampa were weekend guests of the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Dibble. Ken Nelson, Tom Franklin and Herb Nelson spent Sunday fishing at Brownlee reservoir. Mr. and Mrs. John Boston and girls, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Shippy and son were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bos ton. Cables Have New Son Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cables are parents of a son bom May 16 at Holy Rosary hospital. He was named Kevin Scott and weighed 7 pounds, 4% ounces. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Harlan of Boise were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Griffin. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Honey took Belle McGregor to her home in McCall Friday after a visit of several weeks in the Honey resi dence. Walter Johnson accompa nied them on the trip. Bert Montague of Weiser was a recent Thursday luncheon guest of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Seward. Honored on Anniversary Mrs. Ed Stephens entertained Friday evening with a party for her daughter, Pamela, on her ninth birthday anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Saunders of Nampa were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Saunders. Mrs. Jennie Seward and Mrs. Roscoe Kellogg of Nampa left Friday to visit friends and rela tives at Buhl and Pocat ello, Ida ho. Mrs. Goodell took a carload of Mrs. Maggard’s kindergarten chil dren to see the Lions circus May 8 in Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Good ell visited during the evening of May 9 in the home of Mrs. Io Nesbitt and Mrs. Olive Kenward at Payette. Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Adams were Mother’s Day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Hill in Mar sing . Mr. and Mrs. Clar Wharton and Marilyn were May 2-3 guests in the Loyd Adams residence. Mrs. George Cleaver of Nyssa was a Mother’s Day dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Cleaver and family. Families View Baseball Games Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Cleaver attended the Nyssa-Vale baseball game May 8 in Nyssa. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Cleaver and family, Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Cleaver and children attended the Nyssa-Vale game at Vale May 5. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cleaver were taken out to dinner by their children Sunday to celebrate Mo ther’s Day and Lloyd’s birthday anniversary which was May 13. After dinner at Moore hotel they atended a show. Lloyd, Newell and Eugene Cleaver fished May 9 at Lake Owyhee. Mrs. Eugene Stephen and Jeff spent May 9 in Boise. Mr. and Mrs. Stephen and sons visited on Mother’s Day at the home of her mother, Mrs. Martha Norland in Apple Valley. DAUGHTER BORN SUNDAY TO EARL FORD COUPLE Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ford of Parma are parents of a daughter born Sunday, May 17, at Malheur Memorial hospital. The infant weighed 11 pounds, 10 ounces and has been named Kerrie Lee. She joins a brother, Steven Earl, in the home.
