Also needed are games, model airplanes, car model kits, stamp- j ed needlwork items, crochet or embroidery thread, scraps of ma- terial for quilts, new dress ma- terials, stationery, tea, coffee and cash. DECEMBER 5. 1963 BAZAAR, HAM DINNER SET FRIDAY BY RELIEF SOCIETY Women of the Nyssa LDS First ward Relief society have schedul ed their annual bazaar and ham dinner Friday evening, Dec. 6, at the Nyssa stake house. Serving hours will be from 6 to 8 o’clock. On sale all evening will be Christmas cakes as well as numerous bazaar items and a satin quilt wiU be given away. The Girl Scouts and their troop leaders are to be commend ed for their assistance with the sale of these stamps distributed annually for the fight against tuberculosis. Leaders of troop 38 are Mmes. Art Colby, Dick G. Tensen and Hal Henigson. The troop has a total of 16 members. Troop 120 has 30 members and leaders of this group are Mmes. For your wife', The annual fall banquet was held Nov. 12 at Owyhee Commu nity church with approximately I 100 plates, filled with ham and I associated foods, prepared and served. The dinner was sponsor ed by the church young people, assisted by ladies of the Mission ary circle. Featured speaker was the Rev. Tom Starr, pastor of the Bible Baptist church at Payette. A piano solo was presented by Mrs. Meyer of Malheur Butte Baptist church and special vocal selec tions were rendered by a quar tet of young men including Dick Skogan, Bill Martin, Mark and Axel Stephen. Church Hosts Teenage Retreat The Owyhee church was host during an American Sunday school teenage retreat held Nov. 29-30 and attended by approxi mately 25 young people repre senting Baptist churches through out the valley. The session was under direc tion of Marvin McLean, represen tative of the American Sunday School union of the Treasure Val ley area. Featured speaker was the Rev. Ken Swanby of Cole Community church in Boise. Sunday Morning Talk By Congo Missionary Set at Local Church Special evangelistic services are now in progress at the First Christian church in Nyssa with the Rev. B. Ross Evans as fea tured speaker. Services are being held at 7:30 each evening and will continue through Sunday, with the excep tion of Friday. This evening (Thursday) is men’s night and the sermon topic will be “An Amaz ing Testimony." “What Do You Want?” is title of the sermon to be heard on Saturday, family night. Mrs. Phyllis Weare of Burns will be guest speaker Sunday morning, designated as “women’s day.” She is the wife of a physi cian affiliated with a Bums cli nic. Mrs. Weare is a nurse, and with her doctor husband recently spent three years in the Congo during the time of a great crisis. “Beyond the Sunset” will be the topic of the Rev.
