OREGON NOW IS THE TIME TO ORDER YOUR 03 03 AUTOMATIC DUSK TO DAWN A Ballantyne Loses Large Amount of Hay in Friday Blaze By Peggy Brown OREGON TRAIL — Mr. and Mrs. David Ballantyne had the misfortune of losing approximate ly 35 tons of hay Friday after noon by fire. Ballantyne was burning weeds when the wind came up and car ried the flames to the hay stack. By Mrs. O. P. Counsil SUNSET VALLEY—Missionary circle of Owyhee Community church met Friday at the home of Mrs. Clara Corfield. Election of officers was held and plans for a church banquet were discussed. Young people of the church are in charge of banquet arrange ments with missionary ladies as assistants. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lorensen went to McCall Oct. 2 to attend funeral services for Mrs. Clarence Spielman at the Community Con gregational church. They then went to Mt. View Park in Boise for interment services. The Lor ensens, along with members of the family, were guests of the Harold Wilsons in Boise follow ing services at Mt. View Mauso leum. Pastor and Mrs. Arthur Skogan and family were Sunday dinner guests in the home of Mrs. Clara Corfield. Mrs. Grover Cooper and her aunt, Miss Mertrude King, were present for the recent dinner and afternoon service held at Owyhee Community church. Auxiliary Meets Sunset Valley auxiliary met last Thursday at the home of Mrs. O. P. Counsil. The group dined in Caldwell and toured Ghost Town. Enroute home they spent some time in the Nyssa park. Be A Safe Shooter THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION 0 Flora Swigert Rites Conducted Tuesday At Caldwell Chapel Funeral services for Mrs. Flora Swigert of Wilder were conduct ed Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 8, 1963, at Peckham - Dakan - Davis chapel in Caldwell. The Rev. A. E. Gilbert was officiating minis ter. Interment was at Roswell cemetery. Mrs. Swigert, a longtime resi dent of Canyon county, Idaho, succumbed Saturday morning in a Caldwell nursing home. She was born Nov. 27, 1876, in Richardson county, Neb., and on Oct. 24, 1894, was united in mar riage to George W. Swigert in Fall City, Neb. Soon after their marriage they moved to western Nebraska where they resided until 1910, at which time they moved to Ros well. In 1919 they homesteaded in the Arena Valley area. Mr. Swigert died Oct. 31, 1948, and in 1949 Mrs. Swigert moved to Wilder. The deceased was a member of the Wilder Methodist church, Wo man’s Society of Christian Ser vice and the Fargo Community Ladies’ club. Survivors include four sons, Wilford and Dallas, both of Wil der; Foster of Medford, Ore., and Otis of Big Bend. Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Edythe Prosser of Big Bend, Mrs. Ed Maurer of Wilder, Mrs. Ray Hawk of Boise and Mrs. Vera Pollard of Nampa. Other survivors include a sis ter, Mrs. Joseph Harper of Cald well, 19 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. To Take Paratroop Training Mr. and Mrs. Bob Shuster spent Tuesday afternoon of last week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Bob Holmes. They were enroute to Portland where Shuster will leave for Fort Benning, Ga., to take paratroop training. Mrs. Shuster will return to Boise and make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Finley Shuster while her husband is in training.
