New Lake Now Covers Site of School Taught by Mrs. Anna Pratt in 1930's By Mrs. Wilson Witt ♦ NEWELL HEIGHTS — Mr. and Mrs. Gene Pratt and Mrs. Anna Pratt attended the Bully Creek dam dedication Saturday west of Vale. The place holds special me mories for Mrs. Anna Pratt. The site of the school which she taught for five years beginning in 1930 is now at the bottom of the new lake. Mmes. Thelma Hammon, Min nie Stam and Lydia Worden at tended a luncheon and meeting Friday of the Happy Dozen Card club at the home of Mrs. Reuben Graham in Star, Idaho. Mary Worden and Judy Pratt were counselors from Monday un til Saturday at the 4-H camp at Payette Lakes. Loves Return From Eugene Mr. and Mrs. Harry Love and daughter returned Sunday from Eugene. Love is a brother of Mrs. Ray Simpson and now lives in Newell Heights o n Overstreet noad. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Eason and daughter of Homedale spent Sun day with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Simpson. Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Judd and Mr. and Mrs. John Downer visit ed Aug. 6 with relatives in Boise. On Sunday the Downer family left on a 10-day visit to Wallowa lake and to visit his mother in Portland. They will return for a short visit with the Judds be fore leaving for Taft, Calif. Attend Eugene Meeting Pauline Butler and Mary Wor den returned Friday from Eugene where they were Adrian delegates to the student council instruction al meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fenn were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Higgenbottom of Payette. Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Fenn were Sunday evening guests of the Gene Simpson family. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Simpson, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fenn were Sunday morning callers. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Topliff and family visited Sunday afternoon with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Warren in Parma. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Honsdick and children of Salt Lake City spent this week visiting at the Gene Pratt home. Picnic at Owyhee Resort Mr. and Mrs. Charles Glenn and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loise Boren and Leonard of Durkee and C. T. Blackburn of Nyssa had a picnic dinner Sunday at Owyhee resort. Mr. and Mrs. John Fahrenbruch drove to the Bully Creek damsite Saturday for the dedication cere mony. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Simpson and family were Sunday dinner guests I of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Grunig. Mr. and Mrs. William Baxter of Nampa visited Sunday at the L. C. McDermott home. Their two daughters, who had been visiting their grandparents, returned to Nampa with them. Ladies Visit in La Grande Mrs. Margaret Payne and Mrs. Ada Butler of Ontario recently accompanied Helen Butler to La Grande to visit the Joe Smith family and Mrs. Grace Holman. After spending the night there, they saw Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Butler off on a train trip to San Francisco after his 30-day leave. Enroute home from La Grande they had a picnic at Anthony lakes. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Borge, their daughters, Kaye and Marie, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Borge and Jim Grooms of Huntington were Sun day evening dinner guests of the Raleigh McKinleys. Mr. and Mrs. Golden Draper were Sunday callers at the Ray Simpson home. Mr. and Mrs. Al fred Simpson and family were Saturday evening guests. Visitors From Oklahoma Mr. and Mrs. Elzon Mayhall of Canton, Okla., were weekend vis itors at the Elvin Worden home. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Costley, new residents of Newell Heights, and Verna Costley of Homedale also visited at the Worden home. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Leedy of Huntington and Lydia Worden were Sunday dinner guests at the Charles Leedy home. Marie Borge spent Saturday night and Sunday in Nampa with a friend, Zonda Snyder. Raymond (Dutch) Simpson is a patient in the Veterans’ hospital at Boise. His mother, Mrs. Ray Simpson, reports that he is doing fairly well. Visits New Granddaughter Mrs. R. D. McKinley went to La Grande last week to visit her daughter, Mrs. Jack Earnest. Mrs. McKinley, Mrs. Earnest, Missy and Susan drove to North Bend to see Mrs. Hugh Eddy and her baby daughter. Enroute home, they visited Mr. and Mrs. James McKinley in Corvallis and Lloyd’s Center in Portland. Mrs. McKin ley returned home Sunday eve ning. Mrs. John Timmerman under went surgery last Friday at Holy Rosary hospital in Ontario. Terry Timmerman of Eureka, Calif., has been visiting at the Gerritt Timmerman home and also with his father, John Tim merman at Rome.
