In the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Bill Marshall called to visit with the Schafers. Attends 4-H Leaden Meet Mrs. Klaas Laan left Wednes day to attend a 4-H leaders con ference in Corvallis. While there she also visited with Gary Thompson. Mrs. Laan returned home Saturday. A party was held Thursday night at the Klaas Laan home honoring Effie Laan on her birth- d a y anniversary. Junior class members of Adrian high school were in attendance, with the birthday cake being baked by Mrs. Horace Chaney. A NAVYMAN from this area was awarded an individual football trophy Jan. 4 by his commanding officer in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is Draftsman Second Class Terry J. Borge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Borge of route 1. Nyssa. Draftsman Borge is presently serv ing at the headquarters of Admiral John H. Sides, commander in chief. U. S. Pacific Fleet. Navyman Borge played fullback position on the team which defeated four other service teams in intramural competition. About 100 flag allowance personnel participated in this competition. Before he enlisted. Draftsman Borge graduated from Adrian high school and attended one year at the University of Oregon in Eugene. His previous football experience included two year« as a letterman in high school. Valentine Gift Exchange Slated By Ladies' Club By Peggy Brown OREGON TRAIL—Merry Mat rons club met Jan. 23 at the home of Virginia Rookstool with nine members answering roll call. Af ter the business meeting, bingo was played with several members winning prizes. Refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Cora Rookstool. Marshalls to Make Move Mr. and Mrs. Vic Marshall spent several days last week at Pasco, Wash., visiting their son, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Marshall and family. While there they accompanied Jack to Redmond, Ore. The Jack Marshalls are making plans to move to Redmond where he will be employed in the bank. Colleen Brown was a Jan. 17 overnight guest of Barbara Wilt at the Bill Wilt home in Nyssa. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Petterson spent Sunday looking for some 4-H calves near Little Willow, Idaho. Mike Hust spent the weekend visiting at the home of his bro ther-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gardner and son in Caldwell. The Gardners brought him home Sunday afternoon and visited at the George Hust home.
