ARCADIA—The In-Betweeners Home Extension club met Jan. 2 at the home of Mrs. Clyde Bow ers. The lesson was “Stretching the Food Dollar.” Eye-opener on textile painting with paint tubes was given by Mrs Roth, operator of the Trailer Gift shop, located between Ontario and Payette. Next meeting will be Feb. 6 at the home of Mrs. Don Bowers with the lessons to be “Develop ing Responsibility in Children.” Mrs. Mark Aspinwall and Mrs. Dick Nelson will be in charge of the program. They toured the island of Oahu, j seeing many places of interest and viewing the Polynesian shows at the International Market Place. Mrs. Borge and her two daughters also flew to the island of Hawaii, visiting friends in Hilo and on the Kona side. They toured the big island, viewing the Kilauea volcano and the Black Sand beach of Kapoko. They passed through many sugar cane and coffee plantations and saw the birthplace of King Kame- katneka III. They report that tropical flowers were in bloom in great masses everywhere. Upon returning to Portland, the plane was unable to land because of fog, so they were routed to San Francisco where they made a breakfast stop After this the passengers reboarded the plane and again flew to Portland, this time to land. Jake Borge and Carl Begeman met the two travelers in Portland and drove them home. APPLE VALLEY — Livestock group of the Apple Valley 4-H club met Saturday evening in the Wayne Piercy home. Fourteen regular members and one new member, Gary Mabe, were pres ent. Discussion was on the group’s pig project An interesting film on Hereford heritage was shown which included some informative pictures on English cattle. Next 4-H - sponsored dance will be held tomorrow evening at the school gymnasium. Rodney Rhoades of Nyssa was a Sunday dinner guest of Gary Seward.
