Forbess Dennis Lynn Forbess has been named 1961 winner of the honor medal for top graduating chemis try student at the University of Oregon, it was announced recent ly by university authorities. The honor medal is awarded by western chapter of the American Institute of Chemists to top sen ior chemistry students at selected colleges in the region. This will be the tenth annual award. In selecting the top student, scholastic accomplishment, lead ership and character were con sidered. Forbess has a 3.62 grade point average. The award was presented Tuesday, May 23, at a chemistry seminar. * Forbess, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Forbess of 104 North Fifth, Nyssa, was recently elected to membership in the university chapter of Sigma Xi, national sci ence honorary. He was also re cently initiated into Phi Beta Kappa, national liberal arts scho lastic honorary. Other officers elected were Richard Maine, vice president; Kathleen Keck, secretary-treasur er; Leia Fry, reporter; and Kris- teen Keck, song leader. The group voted to assist with and serve at a dinner sponsored by Nu Acres Grange and Farmer ettes club, with proceeds to be used to send 4-Hers to Idaho club congress at Moscow.
