OREGON PAGE FOUR Gold and Green Ball Honors Young Ladies Of Nyssa First Ward Young ladies honored Feb. 25 at Nyssa LDS First ward annual j gold and green ball were Kaye Roberts, Tanya Burningham and Diane Talbot. The event held at Nyssa stake j house featured music by the Chuck Swan orchestra of Boise. Included on the program were musical and feature dance num bers. Dances were under direc tion of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Man ning. Mutual officers and teachers were in charge of arrangements and the program entitled “Some i Enchanted Evening.” +—+ Raffington Couple To Be Honored Friday At Anniversary Party Prize Winners Listed At Oregon Trail Party Oregon Trail card party was held Saturday evening at the grange hall with 11 tables in play. Hosts for the event were the Messrs, and Mmes. Russell Gress- ley, O. E. Cheldelin and Alva Goodell. Mrs. W O. Unwin and Oscar Kurtz were high prize winners. Low awards were won by Mrs. Nellie Erwin and E. M Bingman and traveling prizes went to Mrs Dave Beers and Harry Kingrey. Next meeting will be held March 18. The public is invited to attend. + + Amity Club Members Plan Annual Banquet Mrs. Dean Fife was hostess last Thursday evening to members of the Amity club. Plans were dis cussed for the annual banquet and election of officers to be held the latter part of March. A social evening was spent with prizes being won by Mrs. W. O. Peterson and Mrs. Snoden Rob erts. Next meeting will be held March 23 with Mrs. Peterson as hostess. A party and dance will be giv- I en at Cow Hollow hall Friday, March 10, at 7 p.m. honoring W. T. Raffington on his 91st birthday anniversary and in observance of the Raffingtons’ 60th wedding event. These girls have ben honored in their wards and this will be the climax of the seven ward Gold and Green balls. Receiving honors will be the Misses Tanya Burningham, Diane Talbot, Kaye Roberts, Annette Poulsen, Bonnie Staples, Linda Steiner, Joan Barker, Karen Bur ton, Dixie Wynn, Judy Rasmus sen, MinNette Woodard, Laurel Grigg, Karen Mitchell, Mabel Banta, Norma Goates, Sue Price, Cheryl Carver, Lana Mower, Kay Saunders and Sharon Albertson. Floor show will be under di rection of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Cottrell and will feature all-girl dances from Vale, Owyhee, On tario Second, Nyssa First and Second wards. Dances will in clude Japanese dance, hula dance, “Cha-Cha,” “Highland Fling” and “Moonlight Rhapsody.” Theme song will be sung by a quartet from Nyssa Second ward composed of Virginia Lewis, Sherrie Glenn, Barbara Glover and Georgie Lee Peterson. In charge of refreshments are Mr. and Mrs. Waynard Talbot; programs, Mrs. Hugh Kennington; decorations, chairmaned by Supt. Harold Saunders and Mrs. Earl Winigar, president. Mrs. Frank Skeen is in charge of publicity. The stake Junior Gold and Green ball will be held Saturday night from 8 to 11 p.m. at the stake house and will be for Boy Scouts and Beehive girls. +—+ Jacksons Entertain Sunday Bridge Group Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Jackson entertained Sunday evening for members of their bridge club. Following potluck Italian dinner, three tables were in play. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson were high score winners. Tell Engagement Golden Rule chapter 131, Order of Eastern Star, held its regular meeting Monday evening at the Masonic hall with Worthy Matron Elizabeth House presiding. During the business session, plans were completed for the district meeting to be held March 17 in Nyssa with Golden Chain chapter 103 of Vale and Star ’ chapter 69 of Ontario assisting Mattie Hermann, worthy grand matron of Oregon, will make an official visit. A no-host dinner will be served at 7 p.m. at the Christian church by ladies of the church. Paul House showed movies of Owyhee watershed taken during the snow surveys. Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting by Mrs. Don Graham, Mrs. Emil Paulus and Mrs. A. H. Boydell. +—+ Miss Diane Talbot Mr. and Mrs. Sylvan Talbot of route 2, Parma, announce the engagement of their daughter, Di ane, to Dennis E. McCrady, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. McCrady of Nyssa. The bride-elect will graduate from Fruitland high school this spring. Her fiance was graduated from Nyssa high school with the class of 1959. At present he is attending Marine Aviation Cadet school in Pensacola. Fla. No definite wedding date has been set by the couple. Rebekah Officers Present Gifts to Mrs. Owen Gann Party Honors Patty Lowe On Ninth Anniversary Miss Patricia Lowe was honor ed Saturday on her ninth birth day anniversary at a party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs Ralph Lowe. Those attending the event were Roxanne Mason, Julie Weymouth, Kathy Burrows, Barbara Wilt, Paula Parks, Janalee Wilson, Bunny and Ruthie LaBounty. Refreshments of ice cream and cake were served. Husbands of Ontario Emblem club No. 192 members were spe cial guests at an annual potluck dinner held Feb. 27. Mistress of ceremonies for the event was Mrs. Jay Bybee, with President Kay Toedtemeier giving the welcom ing address. Mrs. Dean Hislop was in charge of entertainment including a reading and two skits presented by Emblem members directed by Mrs. Virgil Hunt.
