Ralph W.lson, Salem, president of the Oregon Association of Soil Conservation districts, which pro vides, through local districts, tech nical and other services to farm ers and ranchers, called the meet ing a "key one in view of press ing land problems.” Don Fredericksen. Gooding, Ida , rancher and a director of the Na tional Association of Soil Conser vation districts, will be the speak er at the annual banquet next Thursday night. On the legislative side, super visors are expected to introduce a resolution asking the state leg islature to provide funds to em ploy part-time, sub-professional engineering and conservation help for the state's soil conservation districts. Committee chairmen include Ray Duncan, Ironside, of the leg islation committee. NEWS OF RECORD County Libraries Report Busy Month Malheur county’s libraries spent a busy month in October, according to their month-end re port released this week. Some 598 new books were add ed at the county library, includ ing 218 in the “schools depart ment" A total of 5,203 books were circulated from the county libr ary with 761 being circulated during the month from Nyssa’s public library Some 1,204 vol umes were circulated from the bookmobile and 736 from Vale’s public library. In addition, the county library answered some 202 requests dur ing October for information. Pythons are the longest of all snakes.
