AUGUST 31. 1950 Pastor Returning APPLE VALLEY, Aug. 31—Mr and Mrs. Herb NeLson and family and the Parker and Young families spent the past week vacationing in Stanley basin and the Dead wood dam region Mr and Mrs. Jack Wilson and family are also on a vacation in the mountains Twenty young people of the Apple Valley church met at the Forrest Reed home Sunday night in honor of Bob Harvey After a short program and a talk by Mr Harvey the group enjoyed a watermelon feed Visiting at the Frank Smith home the past 12 days has been the par ents of both Mr and Mrs. Smith Mr. and Mrs Owen Chaney and Mr and Mrs. Art Baker of Aurora. Nebraska, who left for their home early Monday morning. Bob Harvey, who has filled the position of pastor at the Apple Valley church this summer, is re turning to school and Ray Thomp son former pastor will return next Sunday. The ladles of the W 8. She left Wednesday for Nampa to visit her father-in-law, William Llle, and other relatives. Ray W illis Is Hurt In Korea ADRIAN. Aug 31—Mr and Mrs Bob Brown and Lynette spent three days last week In Boise visiting her par ents, Mr and Mrs F. F. Cummings. Bill Willis received word Monday that his brother. Ray was wounded in Korea. Ray has visited several summers here. Mr and Mrs. Bob Eastman of Caldwell spent Sunday visiting her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Brown. Authur Boride and Edward Olen- non of Emmett spent last week vis iting in the Bill Looney. Elmer Sparks and A. C Henderson homes. Joyce McGinnis visited Thursday with Mrs Jesse Stoker of Big Bend. Mr and M n. Bill Willis aqd Marsha shopped in Boise Wednes day. Mr and Mrs Jim Coon and Betty of Notus and Mrs. Lorraine Olennen and boys of Emmett visited Mr. and Mrs, A. C. Henderson Sunday. Mrs. Chloa McKee has teased the C. and E confectionery. Mr and Mrs. Verl Bishop and family of Burlingame, Kansas were Monday evening dinner guests in the Vernon Parker home. The Bish ops were formerly Big Bend resi dents. Mrs Violet McKee and family of Likely, California arrived Wednes day to visit relatives. Mrs Gayle Martin was called to Nampa Monday due to the Illness of her mother, Mrs. O. J. English. Mr. and Mrs. James McOinnis and family returned home Sunday after a week’s visit In central California visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. E. E Eastman spent Sunday visiting her brother In Gooding, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wymer and family of Portland were Wednesday dinner guests in the Howard Hatch home Mr. Wymer is Mrs. Hatch's brother. She left Wichi ta. Kansas at 3 p. m by plane and arrived at Boise airport at 11 p. m. She was greatly thrilled by a visit to Mammoth and Onyx caves. Boy j Scouts of America, has postponed J the University of Scouting, which was originally scheduled for Sep tember 2 and 3 at the College of Idaho In Caldwell, because of con flicting activities, according to Scout Executive Delbert R Hanks. Mr Hanks said that in the interest of those who desire training in their area of service, a program of initial basic training will be offered in the fall and winter schedules of the re spective districts. The Red Cross mobile unit of the blood bank will visit Nyssa Septem ber 14. according to Rev. Donald Campbell, chairman of the Nyssa Red Cross blood committee Rev. Campbell explained that there Is an increased need for blood, not only for this area, but to aid in the war emergency. Any whole blood that Is not immediately needed In this area, Is broken down into plasma and other blood products so it can be sent to aid In the emergency caused by the Korean outbreak The recruitment chairman and other chairman will be named next week DON B.
