AIR RESERVISTS OF N Y SSA GATHER The second scheduled meeting of the air force reserve squadron for this area was held Tuesday evening, June 28 at the Payette armory under the leadership of Col. W. F. Buchanan of Payette. The squadron is composed of training flights from Nyssa, O n tario, Vale, Payette, Weiser, and Emmett. Personnel for these units is composed of both officer and enlisted veterans of the United States air force. Under Title n i , public law 810, passed by congress June 29, 1948, it is necessary for all air force veterans who desire to take ad vantage of the reserve forces re tirement program to earn a min imum number o f points toy means of training activities. The reserve retirement bill states that prior to June 29. 1948, 50 points shall be credited for each 365 days of service in an active reserve com ponent, other than active federal service. One point will be cred ited for each day o f active federal service. Subsequent to June 28, 1948 . points shall toe credited on the basis of one point for each day of active federal service, 15 points for each year of active membership in the air reserve forces, one point for each authorized drill period or period o f equivalent instruct ion, and one point for each rated three hours of work satisfactorily completed on A F extension courses. Not more than 60 points per year, including the 15 points credited per year for membership in an active reserve component, may be earned for Inactive duty in a year. The July meeting of the Nyssa air force reserves flight will be held at 8 p. m., Friday, July 15, at Carl's Doll House. Art Watter of Eugene, presi dent, and 'Don Johnston of Hills boro, vice president of the state association, flew to Ontario with Pilot Marion Filer of Vancouver, Washington to attend the meeting, which was held at the home of Tresa Pederson. Rrcrived Holland Films— A movie roll o f the colorful "Bloom Fields" of Holland was re ceived by Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Bybee this week from their son, Keith, who is there filling a two-year mLssion for the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Completes Hospital Campaign— Louis D. Barr o f Oakland, Cali fornia, who directed the success ful financial campaign for" the Malheur Memorial hospital at Nyssa, has completed a hospital financing campaign at Toppenish, Washington, according to infor mation received here. A total of $237.200 was subscribed by 1635 persons. The hospital will be known as the Central Memorial hospital, serving the central Yaki ma valley.
