M earl plans to spend a month here visiting in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Kygar. Mrs. Martha Klingback and Fred loft Saturday morning for Walla Walla, where they will spend a few days, and then go to Bay City. Oregon to visit Mr. and Mrs. Frank DeBord. Mr. and Mrs. Oral Hite and Richard left Saturday morning for Seattle, where they plan to spend a few days visiting her brother, Carl Schweizer and family Mrs. Dea Young of La Grande Is visiting this week with Mrs. M ild red Hite. Both women are teach ers in a L a Grande school. Mrs. Dorothy Slippy and child ren, Mr. and Mrs. Merle McClure and children, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClure and family were din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charley Culbertson Monday, in the even ing the group attended the rodeo in Vale and saw the Owyhee R id ing club drill team perform. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Patton en tertained with a picnic Monday in honor of Mrs. Harry Rowe of C hi cago. Those present wer Mr. and Mrs. Russell Patton, 6 r„ Mr. and Mrs. Russell Patton, Jr., and child ren, Mr. and Mrs. Byrd Walters, and Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Walters. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Slippy moved to Boise Saturday to be near their son, Eldon, who is in the hospital suffering from a rare di sease. T h e baby is reported to be getting a little better but may have to remain in the hospital, or near enough to receive treatments every day for some time. O. R Hite and his grandsons, Jimmy Abbott and Ralph Hite, went on a fishing trip to Straw berry lake over the holidays. Mr and Mrs. Don Franklin and sons of Nyssa were dinner guests in the Lynn K ygar home Sunday. Picnicked in the park at' Vale Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Householder. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Schweizer, Guyanne and Charlie Glenn, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Strick land, Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Kreager and Justine and Larry, Jack M ar shall and Patty Em Boyer o f On tario, and Bob Schweizer ofMadras. Mr. and Mrs. Donald H ite and children and Mrs. Dea Young of La Grande were dinner guests of Mrs. Mildred Hite Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McDonald and children spent Monday in Homedale. where they visited in the R ay Fletcher and Bill Wegman homes. Lynn Kygar, Charley Culbertson, Pete Wilson, and Versall Sessions left Tuesday morning to ride on the Malheur river for a couple o f days to tend to cattle. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Raymond. Mr. and Mrs. Frank R ay .and Mearl K ygar spent the week-end on a fishing trip. Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Roger re turned from a trip to Redmond, Drain, and Roseburg, where they visited relatives and friends. Elton Hallmark, their grandson o f Drain returned with them for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Orville McEwen and son returned home Monday from a trip to Portland, Depot Bay and other towns along the coast. T hey visited friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Rosel Hunter and fam ily attended a picnic at the Big Bend park the 4th. The county is grading boulevard this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Houston, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Houston and fam ily and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Houston and fam ily spent the 4th near Council, Idaho. Mrs. Dale Lukey and daughters, Janet and Barbara, o f Boise spent the holidays here with relatives. Miss W ilm a Bullard and Miss Beulah Corn, who are holding daily vacation Bible school for the W illow Creek Sunday school spent the Fourth of July holidays at home. They returned to W illow Creek M o n d a y evening for another week o f Bible school. Donald Bullard spent the week end in Boise with his cousin, Jim- m v Lakev. Mrs. Francis Bates and B er nice Taylor, teachers at Arcadia, who are attending summer school at La Grande, spent the week-end with their families. Miss L a Berta and Betty Jo Hamilton of Seattle arrived last week for a visit with their sister, Mrs. Ja?k Zittercob. Mr. and Mrs. George Moeller and fam ily and Mr. and Mrs. Bob M cKinney spent the 4th on West Camp creek near Unity. Mr. and Mrs. Cole and fam ily of Nyssa visited in the Theo Matherly home Sunday. Mrs. Anna Dail, who has been visiting in Jerome, Idaho, returned home Sunday. She was accomp anied home by her sister, Mrs. Etta Johnson o f Powell, Wyoming, who will spend the summer here, and Mr. ana Mrs. Miles Canada of Jerome, who spent the 4th here. Mr. and Mrs Oeorge Host and fam ily visited relatives near Weiser Sunday. Those attending a picnic dinner at the Otis Bullard home the 4th were Mr. and Mrs. John Zittercob.
