the enlistments of Jack T. Knowles,
18. and Floyd E. Ulrey, 18, both of
Nyssa. The two young men enlisted
in tha regular navy as apprentice
seamen for a period of three years,
and are now receiving their basic
training at the San Diego naval
training center. The navy officials
stated that many petty officer ra t­
ings are now open to men with
previous naval service who re-enlist
prior to October 31, 1947, and who
were discharged on or after Aug­
ust 1, 1945.
