Our problem at home means reconstruction and rehabilitation o f our government, not the fundamental phases of it, but the frills and pol itical furbelows that have been added during the last decade. The W.P.A., works progress administration, that failed to progress except in authority and personnel, was recently dissolved, 18 months after the United States entered the war. That body spent 10 billion dollars and provided emp loyment for eight million persons and when the call to arms came to this country the nation was in no better position from the standpoint of em ployment than it was when the depression st alled. So long as it took 18 months to get rid of the W.P.A., how long is it going to take to diss olve the other agencies and bureaus that were developed before and after the war? It is going to take a long time, unless the American people demand that these socialistic agencies, some of them necessary during war-time, are eliminated as soon as possible. You can be sure that the personnel of these bureaus and agencies are going to fight to the last ditch for their jobs and that the socially- minded higher-ups who are pulling the strings are going to battle to retain the progress they have made. It looks like the only chance of “ cleaning ho use” lies in changing horses in the middle o f the stream. grove Presbyterim ter, Mrs. visiting ered for a basket dinner at noon. still In Dorsey Courd.
