Jackson j entertained fifteen guests at a house | party on New Years eve. A. Vanscoy, with only the Im mediate members of the family present. Mrs. Vanscoy is one of Nyssa’s most popular young ladles and Is a member of one of the counties well known pioneer families. The young couple will make their home In Nyssa. - 5 - BII.VER TEA The next meeting of the Civic club which will be held at the Par' Ish hall on January 18th gives promise of being an unusually de lightful and entertaining affair. And all ladies groups and book clubs as well as any one interested In the development and activity of the community are invited to at tend. The program committee has ar ranged for the well known Idaho pceti-ss Beth Foster Smith to speak to llv> group and she will also read some of her own poems from her two latest publications "T h e Check ered Table Cloth" and “ Sunlit Peaks” . Savage of the Buena Vista district were married Tuesday. December 27, at the Pres byterian manse In Caldwell wtlh the Rev. Shope officiating. D. P. Pullen father of the bride and D. W. Savage father of the bridegroom accompanied them. Miss Ellen McConnell and Frank Savage were guests. The double ring cere mony was used. Mr. and Mrs. Sav age are popular young people of the graduating class of 1938 of the Nyssa high school. Mrs. Savage is well known here, having spent most o f her life in the vicinity of Nyssa. Blueberry Tea Cakes 1% cups sifted cake flour: 1 Vt teaspoons double - acting baking powder; % cup butter or other shortening; 1 cup sugar; 2 eggs, well beaten; % cup milk; 1 tea- epoon vanilla; 1 cup blueberries, lightly dredged with flour. Sift floor once, measure, add bak ing powder, and sift together three times. Cream butter thoroughly, add sugar gradually, and cream together until light and fluffy. Add eggs, then flour, alternately with milk, a small amount at a time. Beat after each addition until smooth. Add flavoring and blue berries. Pour Into greased cupcake pans, filling them % full, flake In moderate oven (375° F.) 20 min utes, or until done. Makes 2 dozen lea cakes.
