r YS.SA will have a chance to step out with
some very pleasant improvements if voters
approve bonds to be voted on August 3rd. Prin­
cipal improvement contemplated is a city hall;
something which has been needed for some
time; and more especially now that the city has
no suitable place to conduct their business, or to
hold public meetings.
Plans which have been discussed do not con­
template an elaborate building, but ample to
care for the city's needs at present and likely for
several years in the future. The city would like
to build a hall large enough to contain a room
big enough to hold ordinary public meetings
and also be used for council rooms; a city clerk’s
office; office for the police department; space
to store the city fire apparatus; decent jail quar­
ters; space for the city library and reading
room; and such other rooms as may be found
necessary.

hall, and possiblv they are not park-minded but
as a rule you will find the people of Nyssa just
a little more progressive than other towns and
most people expect to see both measures roll up
a big majority. August 3rd will tell tale.

NYSSA HAND PROMISES
TO BE BIG ASSET TO CITY—
f P HE Nyssa band i.s making their initial ap-
* nearance today at the Pomona Picnic in
Big Bend Park, which all aids in cementing the
friendship between our farmer friends and busi­
ness men of town. W e feel the band should be
given every encouragement, financial and other­
wise; and that it be made a permanent institu­
tion.
The members of the band have been practic­
ing faithfully, and a creditable musical organ­
ization is being whipped into shape. Nyssa folks
are anxously awaiting the first concert, prefer­
ably some summer evening and we would like
to say, “ in the city park.”

G A R A G E S A T U R D A Y NIGHTS---------
HE city of Hums took the bull by the horns
*■ the other day and enacted a two hour nark­
ing l.rnit on ..Iain Street. The council did this
bccari'e the driving public which made Hums
their shopping headquarters were getting pretty
well disgusted with trying to shop at their fav­
orite store, only to find all the cnoice parking
spots occupied by cars belonging to the owner
and half a dozen employees.
To a certain extent we have the same problem
to fifjht here in Nyssa and while a two hour
parking limit is hardly suitable for a city the
size of Nyssa; still the idea of parking on the
other side of town to shop at a certain store is
beginning to tax the patience of many.
The best suggestion we have heard yet about
this situation is for the local business men to do
everything in their power to make Nyssa the
shopping center of the Owyhee project; and one
of the little things, but mighty important, is to
keen business men’s cars off Main street (luring
the busy part of the week. Lots of parking space
is a big asset to any city; and if necessary some
vacant lots should be fixed up to provide ample
narking opportunity for our country friends. If
business men \yill leave their cars at home on
Saturday evenings it would help immensely and
we believe Nyssa’s cu^omers would appreciate
it.
