M r and Mrs. Harold Adler of Caldwell visited Sunday evening at the Barney Wilson home. Margaret Hunt, daughter of Mr. and Mr. C. C. Hunt arrived Satur day frcm Portland for a visit with home folks. Workmen replaced a large plate glass window In front of the Owy hee Barber Shop Wednesday, which was broken when Bud Anderson started his car while In gear, Jump ing the sidewalk and crashing Into the glass. Miss Katherine Young who has been employed at Dr. J. J. Sarazin's office the past year Is leaving this week for her home In Madras. After a visit there she will probably go on to Portland. Mr. and Mrs. John Couter of Sal em, were Wednesday guests of Mr and Mrs. Chas. Paradis last week. In the afternoon they all made a trip to Boise. Mr. Couter Is connect ed with the farm placement bur eau. Mrs. Bertha Brehmer. grand mother of Bert and Kerm it Lien- kaemper, left Monday morning on the train for Portland. Mrs. Bre hmer had planned to remain a few days longer but received word of the illness of her daughter Mrs. A. P. Llenkaemper. Mrs. Mark Robertson and Mrs. Sid Burbidge and three daughters of Nyssa left Wednesday morning by car for Portland. At Baker they were Joined by Mrs. H. A. Monday. The party will visit with the par ents of Mrs. Burbidge, Mr. and Mrs B. H. Hoover and other relatives for about a month. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Hlgglnson spent Sunday with relatives In Nampa. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. B. Nordale spent M others Day In Payette at the home of their son Roy Sterling. The Charlie Paradis family spent Mother's Day at the parental Ed Wlggln home In Midvale. Mrs. John Young substituted In the local high school Tuesday and Wednesday of this week for Miss Macdonald who has been ill. Dewey Ray is remodeling the house on the place Just south o f town he recently purchased from W alt Starr. The 40 acre farm used to be the property of Ves Goshert and is one of the older farms In this vicinity. Oce Blaylock took Bud Anderson and a trailer with two horses back Into the hills back of Harper Sun day. Mr. Anderson will be employ ed by Chas. McConnell for the next few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Garrison and Jo Anne and Mr. and Mrs. Jake Fischer spent Saturday afternoon and Sunday fishing above Unity on the Burnt river. They returned Sunday evening with their limit and report a pleasant outing. Guests at the A. V. Cook home for M other’s Day included four generations of the family. Mr. and Mrs. Walter K. Davis and smgjl son of North Powder, were present, as was Mrs. Cora Cook, mother of Mr. A. V. Cook, making great grandmother, grandmother and grandfather, mother and son pres ent. Mrs. Davis is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Cook. Others present were Miss Thelma Cook of Boise and Arthur Vemon Cook, who arrived Saturday from San Pedro, California, who has a leave of ab sence from the Navy. He Is station ed on the U. S. S. Arizona. He will be here until the 21st of May. B U L L ” 23c 39c Dr J. J. Sarazin, Dr. R. A Tacke, Ted Morgan and Norbert Sarazin made up a party which went on a picture-taking and exploring ex pedition in the neighborhood of Dry Creek Sunday. They report the water from the Owyhee reservoir backing up into the gullies and al most reaching to the Watson road. Dr. Sarazin reports they called on A1 Long, ’’Mayor of Nigger Rock,” and find him in good heatlh and spirits. A1 Thompson i£ driving a new GMC pickup truck purchased the past week for use in his business. Bonnie Byram of Boise spent Sunday at the parental Rees Byram home. Mrs. B. D. Loveland and son of Brcgan were business visitors in Nyssa Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Marshall and son of Hcmedale visited Moth ers’ Day here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Marshall. St. Paul's Episcopal Guild met on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Artie Robertson. The meet ing was in the form of a social afternoon, with mothers of Sunday School pupils as special guests. Miss Hinemoa Cloninger and June Marie Wilson appeared on the Artists Program given in Ontario last Wednesday night in connection with their Music Week activities Miss Cloninger gave a ballet dance accompanied by Miss Wilson at the piano. Miss Wilhelmina Huffman of Parma and Rcbert Laxson of Ontario also appeared on the pro gram. Nyssa folk attending were Bob Jackson. Mrs. L. C. Wilson, Lieut, and Mrs. Elmer Cloninger, Mrs. Barney Wlson, Mrs. Frank Ward, Louise Tensen, Barbara Browne and Marjorie Groot. Excavation work was started this morning on the new theatre being built by Nate Leigh on the property Just east of the Hoxle Garage building. Virgil Johnson has the contract for the excavating work. She is recovering nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sterling and Mr and Mrs. Weldon Young drove ever frcm Payette Monday evening for a visit at the Thos. B. Nordale home. Mr. Howard Larsen and son Howard Jr., were both absent from their work at the Larsen Garage several days this week on account of illness. M r and Mrs. H. T. Francis of DePoe Bay arrived last week end for their annual visit in Nyssa and to look after property here. They made the trip by way of Cal ifornia. They are staying with Mrs. Mary Felton. Thelma Ann Lewellen spent the week end with her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. C. Klinkenberg, com ing from Vaje where she attends school. The week before she spent the week end with her parents at Bonita. Mr. and Mrs. W C. Jackson and Bob, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Jackson and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Jackson all enjoyed a picnic at the Fish Lumber Mill above Unity Sunday. They made the trip in the new Studebaker purchased by W. C. Jackson last week. Mrs. Dean Smith and daughter Doris went to Portland Friday morning where Doris is consulting an eye specialist. An operation was performed Monday but the results will not be known for some time yet. The two intend to stay in Port land until the middle of next week. Ellis Points and his sister-in-law. Alene McFadden of T aft, C alifor nia spent Mothers Day with the Points. They had dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Points with W. S. Adams and Miss Annie Patterson returned home Tuesday, taking also being guests. Ellis and Alene Herald Points with them for a months visit. Guests at the W ill Beam home Tuesday included many of their old friends who were in Nyssa to at tend the funeral of Chet Morfitt. Those visiting there were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hardman and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Rutherford of Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Worsham of Malheur City, Mr. and Mrs. W ill M orfitt of Unity.
