GATE CITY JOURNAL, THURSDAY, MAY 4, Pirates Serve Annual Junior- Senior Banquet the annual Junior-Senior banquet on Saturday evening at the Eagles lodge hall. The banquet room was draped with streamers in a dozen bright' colors. Treasure chests centered the tables and the girls who served wore pirate cos tumes. Ray Ashcraft will be president (very promising), Harriet Sarazin, vice-president (capable we’re sure); Tlena Tensen, secretary, (little but mightly). The successful candidates were called on for acceptance speeches. • • • • SCHOOL BRIEFS Miss Stella Fishbum has been out of school on account of illness this week. Paul Hatch visited relatives at Walla Walla last week and also Whitman col lege where he may attend college next year. Bill Boor is back in school after three weeks absence during which he work ed at home. Robert Johaneson has recovered from an illness which kept him from play practice a few days. Juniors are starting work on the last school paper of the year which they will call "The Crimson Trail.” It will be on sale during the last few days of school. 4-H Members W ill Exhibit A t Fall Fair COUNTY 4-H NEWS Four-H club members of Malheur county will be Interested in knowing that the Ontario Commercial club has given assurance that whether there is a county fair or not, they will hold a 4-H and Future Farmers fair. As a re sult each club member may work with the idea in mind of exhibiting his or her project just as usual. The first place exhibits in each division of cook ing, sewing, canning, handwork, corn garden and handicraft will be sent to the state fair if possible. Another development of general in terest has been the decision to con tinue the Malheur county corn growing contest. There will again be a Junior and senior division. The sweepstakes award was won by an eight year old boy last year. Any com club member is eligible and urged to enter this con test. Entrance cards will be mailed lat er.
