The pheasant is an unusual specimen and may be seen at The Journal office. Owyhee; Vale Begins New Fight - . _______ The house appropriations committee Friday reported to the house the Inter ior supply bill carrying $1.577,000, slight ly less than the budget asked, for the Owyhee irrigation project for the en suing fiscal year. The Vale project was slated to receive $19,000, a thousand less than the budget asked and Boulder dam $8,000,000, two million less than the budget called for. Frank T. Morgan, secretary of the Owyhee district, stated this week that he was well pleased with the allowance for the Owyhee and added that he be lieves it sale after approval by the house, which is still forthcoming. The Vale appropriation Is not suffi cient to proceed with construction of the dam on the North Fork of the Mal heur river, which would supply water for the Jamieson unit. Robert D. Lytle, Vale member of the Vale-Owyhee Land Settlement association, has started a vigorous campaign on behalf of the Vale and at last week’s meeting of the settlement association, his program re- ceived hearty endorsement. Owyhee directors, 8. D. Ooshert and C. C. Hunt, with Mr. Morgan and Attorney K. M. Blodgett of Nyssa pledged their support.
