Not even a lady barber is permitted, according to Martin Boss, “ boss” for J. F. Shea company. It is a he-man’s camp. However, a lucky representative of The Journal was invited to dine Tuesday at the banquet table of Nels Larson, the cook, regardless o f the fact that she is not a man. She, with Dr. J. J. Sarazin, physician for the Owyhee project camps, shared in T-bone steak, hot rolls, green peas, delicious pie and cake. Boss saw that the guests did not overlook even the napkins at Shea. A fier guiding his visitors from tunnels, compressor and shops. Boss proudly exhibited the camp's four small kittens. When there is time for relaxation, they are the pets at Shea. Wild flowers in the sage did not wait for the arrival of May to blos som. Early in the week, the hills were gay with Indian paint brush, larkspur, bluebells, sunflowers and the pretty little lavender blossoms that carpet the desert soil. Lucky hillsides present a wide Variety of wild flowers, while less fortunate ones can boast only a bright patch of Indian paint brush or a sun flower here and there. There is no end of intriguing spots in which to picnic between the colorful canyon walls of the Owyhee river near Nyssa. There is Snively Hot Springs, the tunnel camps, the dam and still others.
