Mr. Horace Chesbro of Seattle,
agent for the Karl Zech piano,
made a couple of trips to the Bend

A . G. Kingman, from Owyhee,
in Vale on jury duty, states that
everything is prosperous in his
section. They have 22 families
now on 2500 acres, somewhat over
100 acres to the family, which
will be reduced as others come in.
“ We organize and formulate a
P°^'cy as to what we shall plant,
saJs Mr. Kingman, 'and all stand
firmly by this policy. We have
planted only two kinds of apples,
Jouathans and YVinesaps. Each
owner has planted from eight to
15 acres of prunes, and we intend
building a dryer and being ready
to care for our crop, eitner by
shipping fresh or drying, as the
market may demand.
“ There is but little doubt in my
mind,” continued Mr. Kingman,
"bi»t that the Owyhee high line
pumping plant will be put in,
which will add very much to the
value of taxable property in Mal­
heur county, aud furnish homes
for many families.— Malheur En­
