J. Keith who are the babe’s great- grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Morris of Cottage Grove were in Vernonia on business Thursday of last week and were also calling on friends. Mrs. Morris has her right arm in a cast due to having it broken in a fall about six weeks ago. She hoped to have the cast removed this week, A recent new com er to Vernonia is Marcus W Hiatt who has pur chased the Hugh May place on Corey Hill and moved here from Roseburg. He is retired. Several m em bers of Ladies attending Long Beach, California to be there Saturday for the wedding of Mrs. Gessel’s son, Don McAdams. Mrs. Pagh’s son, Lester Chambers, was to be best man. Both young men the now serving in the Navy and are aboard the ship USS Princeton which was to be docked in Long Beach for a few days. Mrs. Blount’s son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Blount and family from Tillamook were here Sunday and a daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth An derson and two boys visited her Mon day while here to attend funeral ser vices for Eddie Poetter. Mrs. N ehalem Harry Emmons drove to Chapter OES were at Clatskanie Thursday evening of last week for a meeting at which Mrs. Oscar Hannula of Clatskanie, who for merly lived here, was honored. McGilchrist who was in the hospital recuperating from surgery necessitated by a burst appendix. She returned home Fri day and has been assured that he is improving satisfactorily. Mrs. Joe Howard of Pittsburg is in the Forest Grove hospital where she has been undergoing treatment since last week. She also had sur gery Tuesday of this week. John Siedelman, Lawrence John ston and Sam Lousignont attended the registered quarterhorse sale at Hermiston Saturday and Sunday. John came home with a new buck skin mare with the registered name of Miss Scot Bar and Johnston brought back a black gelding named Gap Hawk. Mrs. Clarence New was taken to St. Vincents hospital in Portland Thursday of last week after suffer ing some type of attack which has not been identified but caused her to loose consciousness. She regained consciousness the following day and has been undergoing tests to deter mine her trouble.
