They have a son who will be in second grade this y ear and tw o children of high school age, one a freshman and the other a junior this coming year. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Lindsay and three children. Jim , Kenneth aind Barbara, enjoyed vacationing last week. They w ent down the coast to Coos Bay, stopped at the O re gon Caves enroute to G rants Pass and came home through Eugene. They visited w ith friends at v ari ous points enroute. The previous week, Mr. Lindsay was one of a group that flew by jet to Chicago to tour the C aterpillar Tractor plants there and at Peoria. Miss Vicky Serafin, who is a t tending the N orthw estern School of Commerce in Portland, spent the week end here with her p a r ents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Serafin. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Towne and family returned home Sunday from a w eek’s vacation during which they visited with relatives at various places in eastern W ash ington. Among those visited were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Towne at Selah; friends, Mr. and Mrs. George M. M iller at G ar field; her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. N orbert Luelloff and father, A. H. Luelloff at K enne wick; and his sisters and hus bands, Mr. and Mrs. Don E bert at Yakima and Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Fletcher at Richland. Their oldest daughter, Judy, accom panied them to Yakima but on Wednesday returned to Hillsboro w here she works in the state em ployment office. Included in those here were the Anderegg’s daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Borders and family from Spring- field who were here all week end, H enry’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Anderegg of Clackamas and his brothers, sisters and fam ilies. Les Luuman of Milwaukie remained for an extended visit with his cousin, Ralph Anderegg, Last Sunday, a swimming p arty and picnic was held at the A n deregg place w ith Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bergerson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Skidm ore and family and Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Johnson and sons Douglas and Stanley of Stevenson, W ashing ton participating. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Roland and family of Hillsboro were here Saturday night to visit his p a r ents, Mr. and Mrs. George Ro land and to accompany them to Jnntzen beach Sunday to attend the Meier and Frank picnic. Mrs. Roland Sr. is employed at Meier and Frank's store. Friends here were sorry to hear that Mrs. Dick Von, a for m er Vernonia resident, and her five children were involved in an automobile accident last S a t urday at McMinnville in which the seven year old daughter was killed and Mrs. Von and the other four children were hospitalized One boy was in critical condition. They lived here about eight years ago on W ashington street and he worked for Crown Zellerbach. Mr. and Mrs. Don Tiffney and daughter visited the zoo in P o rt land last Friday and had the plea sure of being passengers on the Zoo-liner at the same time that Jim m y Rogers, his wife and daughter were on it. Joe and Wally Grosche were called tu North Dakota Sunday because of the critical illness of their father. Guests Sunday a t the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Poynter were her cousin and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Sheridan Long from Tilla mook, and Mr. Poynter's daugh ter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. George Blanton of Portland. Mon day, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McDon ald were guests at the Poynter home. Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Larry G arner were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Schwab for a fishing trip on their boat near Goble. O ther Vernonia people seen boat ing in that area were Mr. and Mrs. Horace Hertel and family. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lindley of G aribaldi arrived here Friday for a few days visiting and looking after their property. They also w ent to Scappoose to visit w ith Jack Junkins. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Peters and sons Stephen and K eith of Abita Springs, Louisiana arrived here Monday evening and are at the home of her mother, Mrs. M. J. lum ping Sr. and plan to spend about a month visiting relatives and friends in this area. A Lam p ing family reunion is planned for the Jam boree week end, Mrs. Robert McNair is on cru t ches due to a severely sprained ankle which was sustained Tues day. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Nance are her niece, Mrs. W illiam Herndon and son Mike who returned here with the Nances from Tacoma July 4. Nine m em bers and three visitors w ere at the m eeting held in the hall later. The charter had arrived and was shown at the m eeting by the president, Faye Davis. She also said that the rituals and by laws came but the pins have been de layed until next time. T he caps w ere discussed again but it was decided to w ait until the next m eeting when a m em ber of A ux iliary No. 187, Mrs. Bernetta Johnson, will be present w ith her cap. At the next meeting Ju ly 24, each m ember is to bring a dish towel to stock the kitchen sup plies. An invitation was extended to the B arrack’s, auxiliary to march in the Jam bcree parade.
