Died for Peter GEORGE N. TAYLOR Portland. Oregon The higher-ups in Jerusalem had a law. If any said that he was the Son of God, he must die. Christ had made that claim and so He must die. Now Peter comes into the chapter. He had said He would never deny Christ. So with Christ under arrest for claiming to be the Son of God, it was for Peter to speak out. But in stead of speaking out to defend Christ, Peter denied that he had ever known Christ. At the third denial, Christ caught Peter’s eye. Peter knew that he had lied and he went out and wept bitterly. Soon after they crucified Christ and the third day He arose from among the dead. He at once visited Peter. Did He then tell Peter He had on the cross, suf fered death for the lies Peter had told? Or was it to say He loved Peter in spite of the lies? But ever after, Peter was strong for Christ. And you? Christ died for your sins also. This message sponsored by a Seattle family.
