Loren Weidman of Portland are announcing the arrival of a son, David Duane, June 14. He joins a sister in the Weidman faitlily. Mrs. Lona Weld- man went to Portland Wednes- day to make the acquaintance of her new grandson. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Valpiani attended a reception Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Lalli at West Slope, in honor of their son, Richard Lalli who had graduated the pre vious evening from the Univer sity of Oregon medical school. He will now intern for a year at the Multnomah county hospital after which he will do his term in military service. Mrs. Clayton Johnson, her daughter Terri Beth and son Garth of Minot, North Dakota are visiting here with her aunt, Mrs. Alois Sauer; her uncle, Er vin P. Mullins and with other relatives at Beaverton and Port land. While on their way io Ver nonia from Beaverton Saturday to attend the wedding of Miss Kathleen Sauer, her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd M. Thomas of Beaverton and their daughters, Jeanine and Marlene, and Kathleen's grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Mullins of Vernonia, were involved in an accident when a car came through a stop in front of them on River road near Hillsboro. The Thomas car was demolished but all escaped with only bruises and shock. Mrs. Mullins was taken to Good Sa maritan hospital Sunday for a Play safe. Glenda Hahmeyer is spending this week at Seaside with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gamer. Jack Junkins of Portland came here Friday afternoon and ac companied Wm. Lindley to Gari baldi for the week end at the Lindley cottage there. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Sher man Fisher last week were his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Fisher from Toledo, Ohio, who flew out for a weeks vacation. They also visited In Portland with another brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Fisher. Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Weed went to Seattle last Friday for a visit with their son Melvin and his family. On Sunday, both fami lies took the excursion boat trip to Victoria, B.C. as a means of celebrating the O.G. Weed’s 47th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Lilly have had the pleasure this week of having as their guests, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Gars 'e of Port Arthur, Texas, old friends whom they had not seen for 35 years. The Garsees are on a tour which will take them from here on to Seat tle and from there to Alaska. Judy Caywood and Jim Lamb are at Seattle visiting their grandmother and other relatives and friends. They are expected home this week end. Mrs. Milton Oakes had the mis fortune to fall at her home last Tuesday and break a bone in her ankle. She is getting around with the aid of a walking cast. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Pace were I in Portland Sunday to attend a i party at the home of Mrs. Pace’s I cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kneeland, which marked the golden wedding anniversary of Mrs. Kneeland’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Heacock of New berg, and the silver wedding an niversary of her sister and hus band, Mr. and Mrs. Don Lari mer of Portland. Mrs. Kneeland is the Vere Kneeland of the Lady of the House program seen daily on KLOR. Mrs. E. A. Winema and Vernonia granges as guests. DATES TO REMEMBER Tommy Soloman, son of Mr. Mrs. Jewell Soloman, underwent a tonsilectomy at Tuality Com munity hospital at Hillsboro on Wednesday. Patti Jo Hahmeyer, two and a half year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs Wm. Hahmeyer, underwent surgery Monday at Tuality hos pital, Hillsboro for correction of a herrua. Her mother, who has stayed at the hospital with her, expects to bring her home to day. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Ratcliffe en joyed a trip to Victoria, B. C. last week end by way of Port Angeles. Mrs. Paul Gordon drove to Cot tage Grove last week end to take home her father, Robert Meranda, who had visited here for the past three weeks. Mrs. Ethel Ray of Willamina is spending this week at the home of her son, Allen Ray. Mrs. Eugene Drips and her mother, Mrs. Sine Collins, left Sunday for Denver for a week’s visit with Mr. Drips mother and other relatives. Miss Carol Ray began work this week at a bag factory in Portland. Ron Paris and Richard M. Buckner had identified numbers at Brunsmans up to Wednesday morning with those drawn at the store last Saturday. Four num bers remained unidentified. A2c Bill Wells is here from Paine Air Base at Everett, Wash ington for a 20-day leave at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Wells. Friends Enjoy Party At Harry Eckland Home A group of friends met for a get-to-gether party Monday aft ernoon at thehome of Mrs. Harry Eckland whom they honored with a shower of gifts and cards. Following a time of visiting, angelfood cake, baked by Mrs. Lee Akers, was served to Mrs. Zada Snook, Mrs. H. H. Krank, Mrs. A. L. Ratcliffe, Mrs. Wm. Chadwick, Mrs. W. T. Graves Mrs. Anna Partridge, Mrs. Akers and Mrs. Eckland. Revealing of Secret Pals Concludes Study Club Year The Vernonia Study club met Friday evening, June 15 at the home of Mrs. Emil Massing for their annual pot-luck dinner. This was the final meeting before sum mer vacation. The club will re convene sometime in September. At this meeting the secret pals were revealed and new ones chosen for ths coming year.
