Bicker of St. Helen«, ■netmbrr of the Columbia county fair board, is recovering from an appendectomy at the Physicians and Surgeons hospital in Port land. His progress is reported as satisfactory. Mr». Sisiler and Mr«. Alfred Nordgren of Forest Grove and Mrs. Frank Anderson of Spokane surprised Mrs. Adolph Nelson on Tuesday morning when they came to visit her. Mrs. Nordgren, Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Nelson were C«rl friends. They lived in Spo kane at that time and Mrs. Nel son had not seen Mrs. Anderson for 44 years. They went to the coast for the day. The elder Mr. Veal was a member of the V.F.W. post here during the time he resided in Vernonia. Dr. and Mrs. Ted Richey left Wednesday of last week after spending Mother’s day week end at the Heenan residence on North St. Mrs. Richey is Mrs. Heenan’s daughter, formerly Betty Jegen. The visitors left here for Cali fornia then for Montgomery, Ala bama where he will begin a five- week training course May 25 in the medical air corps. Mr. and Mrs. John R. Heenan and son, John, from Coquille visited the Darrold Proehl and Jack Heenan residences the week before Mother’s day. Mr*. Sarah Davie*, mother of Jim Davies, of Huntington Park, California, left by plane last Fri. day evening for England where she plans to visit with relatives and to see the coronation cere mony. She will be there a month. O. S. Poynter returned home Wednesday of last week after a three-week stay in Portland. He was under medical attention. Mr. and Mr*. Eitie Roth were visited by Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Roger and two sons, Charles and Robert, from Tillamook Saturday evening befqre Mother’s day.
