Book on South Pacific Reviewed to Club "Return to Paradise" by James A. Michenor was reviewed by Mrs. Robert Lindsay when the members of the Vbrnonia Study club met March 6 at the home of Mrs. Harry Sandon. The Writer, roving reported for the N.Y Tribune and author of "South Pacific,’’ pictures vividly the islands h ■ loves. Descrip tion of the atolls, the customs of natives of each island and the effort of western civilization on the peoples were some of the interesting and informative facts given in the book. Mrs. Bill Horn will be hostess for the next meeting March 20. Mrs. Frances Mullins will review the book, "Festival,” by J. B. Priestly. Townsend Speech to Be Heard at Meeting Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Oakes and Frank Thomas were in Portland a few days ago to attend a Town send club meeting at which a speech concerning club work was presented by Mr. Herrin. The speech was recorded and will b? played back to members of the Vtrnonia club when they meet Saturday at the Oakes’ club room. Party to Mark 34th Legion Anniversary American Legion and Auxili ary members will commemorate the 34th anniversary of the or ganization n xt Tuesday, March 18 with a party at the hall to which all members of both the post and Auxiliary are invited. The celebration will also be the climtyc to a membership drive which has ben underway. A large cake was prepared for the occasion. Mrs. Jones is continu ing her visit till Wednesday. Robert King is still in the Good Samaritan hospital in Portland. He is slowly recovering from a severe case of acute hepatitis.
