He is under observation and it is hoped he will be home in a few days. Camett Falconbury has been called back into the service of the Marine Air Corps. He will go to Portland for his physical Saturday. Verlin Crume has been called into the service, having passed his physical examination. He will leave September 20. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Lloyd spent Saturday at Scappoose where they visited the Peter and Deer ing rose gardens. Guests of Mrs. Alice Mills and Mrs. P. J. Parsons for Sunday dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Cleon Woodruff and boys of Portland and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wood ruff of Vernonia. MIST — Mr. and Mrs. Percy Baillett have had as their guest for a week or more their grand daughter, Betty, from Snoho mish, Washington. She returned to Washington last week. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Johnson and daughters, Virginia and Aleen, took a trip to eastern Ore- gon over the week end. Aileen Johnson leaves for school at Monmouth this week. Jackie Burnham has left for his school term at Portland col lege. He won a scholarship. He has been staying at his grand-" mother’s, Mrs. Libel, most of the time for a number of years. Mrs. I. E. Knowles and son, Earl, were Portland visitors Sat urday. Mr. and Mrs. Mansfield were in Portland Friday. Joe Roeser made a trip up in the valley Thursday. The Wikstrom mill was down a couple of days last week be cause of a break down. Mrs. L. B. Eastman and Mrs. EAGLE, VERNONIA, ORE. Percy Baillett called on Mrs. Austin Dowling Friday.
