Harold Carrick is on crutches and will be for some time yet while he recovers from a foot injury resulting while helping with repair work on a cat week before last. The accident resulted in the loss of one toe and severe injury to another. Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Sandretszkey and family from Brimson, Minne sota will arrive here Thursday, July 29 at the George Koski resi dence for a short visit. The family was also here a short time ago for a visit. Mrs. Sandretszkey is a sister of Mrs. Koski. Mrs. Dow Saunders and family from Warrenton arrived here Sun day to spend a week visiting at the home of her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Lar son. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Shafer are the parents of a boy born at 4:54 a.m. July 25 at their home. He weighed seven and one-half pounds. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Depue were here for a short time Monday to see his father, Bert, before con tinuing on their wedding trip. They were married at Vancouver, Washington and plan to make their home near Neskowin. Mrs. Arlene Altman came up from Arcata, California to see her father, A. B. Counts, last week. Her two daughters and son have been visiting in this vicinity for about two months and are to go back to Roseburg to live with their mother soon. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Yaunkee re turned from a three week vacation trip to Pierce, Idaho, leaving their daughter, Donna, with a cousin at Weippe, Idaho while the parents pack to move to Pierce this week. Mrs. I). F. Morris held a Stanley party last Thursday evening, Lyle G. Ordway of Seaside being dem- instrator. Guests present were Mrs. Rose Stein, Mrs. John Sund- quist, Mrs. Leah Stiff, Mrs. Beth Backer, Mrs. Geneva Bond, Miss Joy Silver, Mrs. Edna White, Mrs. Mae Mulkins, Mrs. Mae Hanon, Miss Elna Morris, Mrs. Isola Mor ris, Mrs. Wilma Borton, Mrs. Ed Hartzell, Mrs. Helen Roland and Mrs. Blanche DeWitt. Dainty refreshments were served. Mrs. Laura Thacker and Mildred accompanied her daughter and family, the Royce Newtons, to the coast this week. Mrs. Walter Silver and daughter, Joy, have made a trip to Camas, Washington to visit relatives. Miss Bernadine King was a Forest Grove caller Tuesday, visit ing the cannery and then calling on Mrs. Mildred Berger, a past resident of Vernonia. Mrs. Bays and Mrs. Nichols, both of Vernonia are rooming with Mrs. Berger and working in the cannery. Mrs. A. E. Jennings is also visiting there. Miss King came back Tues day evening. Mr. and Mrs. James Nixon of Cherry Grove called on Mr. and Mrs. Hank King and family Satur day. Mrs. Nixon is Hank King’s niece. Mrs. Geneva Bond and son, Keith, left last Saturday morn ing for -Little Rock, Arkansas to visit Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Meyers and family. They expect the trip to take about three days and they will stay three weeks before re turning to their home on Weed avenue.
