Mrs. Laura Childers and son, Marvin, and grandsons, John and Robert, of Cove, Oregon were here recently on a four-day visit spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Laramore. Mrs. Childers is Mr. Laramore’s aunt. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Skuzie were at McKenzie Bridge during the holiday week end to visit Mrs. C. S. Hoffman. They left here Friday and returned Monday. Peterson and daughter, Janet, were present Sunday at a family reunion held at Multnomah Falls. Thirty rela tives were present including Mr. and Mrs. James Martin and their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Martin, all of Billings, Montana, who are here visiting now. Mrs. James Martin is a sister of Mrs. Peterson and the mother of Mrs. Roy Leonard. Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Cates plan to move soon to the former John Willis place about three and one- half miles from town on Timber route. They are offering their home in town for sale. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Shipman were at Long Beach, Washington Sunday to see Mrs. Winifred Niles, sister of Mrs. Shipman. Mrs. Niles is very seriously ill. DANCE with Freddy Carmichael’s Dance Band. Hartzell, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hartzell, Mrs. J. A. McDonald, Mrs. Alta Lander, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Messing, Jean McDonald and Miss Hamnett, all of Vernonia and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Kain, Mr. and Mrs. Max Kain and Mr. and Mrs. Toney Wells, all of Beaverton. Mr. and Mrs. George Thacker of Weed Avenue received word of a new great grandson named Frederick Charles, born June 29 and weighing seven pounds and 13 ounces. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. George Smith of Long Beach, California. Mrs. Hulan Thacker, grandmother, is there while the mother is in the hospital. Mrs. Thacker expects to return home soon. Great grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. George Thacker total 11 boys and 11 girls. Mrs. Esther Morgan’s father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Snook of Napa, California; her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Spade of Redding, California; and Lewis Morgan’s brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Morgan, of San Francisco, all surprised the Morgan family Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Snook expect to remain with their relatives and friends for a month. The rest of the visitors are staying this week. Ronald Thinnes, son of Sir. and Mrs. Ed Thinnes, was rushed to the Physicians and Surgeons hos pital Tuesday afternoon suffering from a ruptured appendix and is in very serious condition. Mr. and Mrs. Thinnes are still with J off Theatre Vernonia. Ed Cederburg accompanied by Alva Chadd, whose family has been in Vernonia a week from North Platte, Nebraska, arrived in Vernonia Saturday. He is visiting his daughters, Mrs. Joe Eggert and family and Mrs. Harry Eck- land and family and his son, Charles Cederburg, and family. Mr. John Liepold was at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Rosa over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Landers went to Victoria, B. C. last Saturday on a two and one-half day vaca tion trip and returned Tuesday evening. They would have made a longer trip, but due to bad weather and rain, came home sooner than expected. Mr. Landers is on his vacation until Monday from SP&S depot. Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Hausler were also on a trip to Victoria and happened to meet the Landers several times. Jack Surles has transferred to the SP&S depot at Forest Grove and expects to move his family there soon. Mrs. Pete Brunsman returned from the Emanuel hospital, Port land, Sunday after being there for 18 days. Deanna Juola is visiting her cousin, Marlene Cook, at Beaver ton this week and is also enjoying a few days at Mt. Hood. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Haskell and son, Ernest, of Baker were guests here at the Sam Hearing, Sr., home from Thursday of last week to Tuesday. Mrs. Haskell and Mrs. Hearing are sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Warren and sons, Jack and Charles, Jr., of Grants Pass arrived here Wed nesday to spend two days visit ing J. A. Bush, Jr. Mr. Warren is a nephew of Mr. Bush. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Wilde and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Wilde, all of Tigard, D. F. Gunn and sons, Calvin and David, from Palo Alto, California were Sunday guests at the A. R. Stanton home. Mr. Gunn is a brother-in-law of Mrs. Oscar Wilde. Nancy Peterson, who spent two weeks with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Peterson, re turned to her home at South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Wally Kay from Portland were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Peterson on Timber route. Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Peterson and son, Carl, drove to Portland Tuesday oh business. Mr. and Mrs. Charles 'Richard son and children of Portland were Sunday visitors at the Dave Mar shall home. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Marshall and daughters of Seattle were guests at the Marshall home Sunday and Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Worley have moved to Chiloquin where they plan to go into business operating a grocery store and service station. The Worelys have lived in Vernonia about three and one-half years. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Taylor and son, Joe, are spending a weeks vacation on the McKenzie river. Mr. and Mrs. John R. Wirtz and daughter, Kitty and Miss Greta Ann Peterson of Oakland, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Kamholz and son, Gregory, left last Thursday morning for Goldendale, Washington, going from there to Bend, Oregon, where Mr. Kamholz attended the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association convention. California arrived the Fourth to spend a vacation at the parental J. A. Wirtz home in Riverview. The Rudy Kemper family of Forest Grove also spent the Fourth at the Wirtz home. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Cline former residents, now of Olympia, Washington, drove down the Fourth and spent the night with Mrs. Ethel Hall. They were ac companied by their sons, Ron nie and Marvin. • Mr. and Mrs. Charles Powers and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Fisher, all from Burley, Idaho, were visitors at the Walter Mathews home the first of the week. Mr. Powers is a brother and Mrs. Fisher a niece of Mrs. Ida Con- dit.
