Mothers Honored at Church Services Sun. LET’S BE SOCIABLE Double-ring Ceremony Unites Couple Sunday Mrs. Bernice Warner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Turner, and Thomas Osborn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Bittner, of Ver nonia were united in marriage Sunday, May 9 in Vancouver, Washington on the lawn at the home of Rev. Paul Runzman with a double ring ceremony at 12 noon. The bride wore an ice blue rfuit and carried a corsage of red rose buds. Her sister, Iris Sears, was maid of honor. Flower girls were Paulette and Deanna, daughters of the bride and groom. They wore dresses of peach taffeta trimmed in ice blue and carried boquets of sweet peas and rose buds. Best man was Larry Flem ming. About 100 guests were enter tained at a reception held at the groom’s home in Portland. The house was decorated with tulips and primroses. The three- layer wedding cake was decorated with silver leaves and pink rose buds topped with a miniature bridal couple and was served by the bride’s mother, Mrs. George Turner. Mrs. John Rohrback poured coffee and punch. Mr. and Mrs. Osborn will make their home in Forest Grove where he is employed by the Natal Log ging company. • Mother’s Dav Addenda Highlights Meeting NEW COATS SUITS JACKETS Very Reasonably Priced The Apparel Shop The Mother’s Day services at the Christian church were well attended. After a short program by the youngsterc, each mother was presented with a potted plant. The Junior choir sang a special Mother’s Day song at the evening service at 5:30. The regular church night sup per was held last Wednesday night. Little Miss Billye Knoedler only 8 years old, "baked the May birthday cake. G. W. Anderson, young minis ter from Palouse, Washington will be here for a trial sermon Members on Sunday, May 23. of the congregation are urged to hear him. Basic Tools Studied At Extension Meet The Vernonia unit of the home extension met last Thursday at the Legion hall. Mrs. Maud Cass- well of St. Helens was present and gave the demonstration lesson on basic tools. Paper sack lunches were brought and this meeting was pretty well attended. A meeting will be held on the first Thursday of June in the Legion hall and the discussion at that time will be on arranging flowers. A clever Mother’s Day addenda, directed by Molly Eby, was one of the highlights of the Nehalem Chapter, O.E.S., meeting Wednes day evening. Initiatory degrees were given Helen Peterson and a lovely O.E.S. Jewel wa3 presented her by Paul Gordon from her hus band, E. W. Peterson. Vicki Nanson was elected as sociate conductress to fill the vacancy left by the reignation of Katherine Johns who was unable to continue because of ill health and Lucille Tomlin was appointed to the office of Ruth. These members were then instal led by Bertie Mills, Past Matron. A delicious lunch was served in the social hall, the tables being very attractively decorated with tapers, blossoms and Mother’s Day greetings. Mothers Day Date Observed RIVERVIEW — Mt. and Mrs. Rundell ate Mother’s Day dinner at the Ed Buchner home. Mrs. Roy Buchner and Mrs. John Pearson and children of Hills boro ate dinner at the Ed Buchner home Thursday. Clifford Rowe is staying with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Moore. Mrs. Geo. Bell spent last week in Portland with her daughter, Mrs. Delbert Glenn. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schroeder motored to Seaside Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kinnaman of Port Orchard, Washington visited at the George Dodt home for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts ate Moth er’s Day dinner at the Beulah Gill home. Mrs. J. A. Wirtz celebrated her birthday Friday in Forest Grove with her daughter, Mrs. R. C. Kemper. Lee Lindsley arrived home from the East Wednesday even ing. He spent Tuesday night in Portland with his brother. Mr. W. R. Prince.
