ed to Portland last Thursday to
see Ralph Borton who is in a
cast and will be for several weeks.

Arden Ice Cream
A total of 616 persons, a major­
ity of them in the Portland area,
have been released by the Bonne­
ville "power administration in order
to bring personnel of the agency
into line with recent congressional
action reducing the administra­
tion’s appropiation for operations
and maintenance from $4,300,000
for the fiscal year 1947 to $2,500,-
000 for the current year.
Paul J. Raver, Bonneville ad­
ministrator, said that the reduction
was effected by drastic curtail­
ment all along the line and that
time only would tell what the
over-all effect would be on opera­
tions of the power system, the
largest high-voltage distribution
network in the United States.
The reduction in force brought
the total number of annual em­
ployees down to 851 from last
year’s figure of 1393. Seventy-
four hourly positions were abolish­
ed leaving 600 on the rolls. A
breakdown of the office by office
curtailment within the 4^^

A. E. Jennings, now of Empire
Oregon, were here Thursday, Aug­
ust 14 to see Mrs. Jennings for the
first time in many years. Visit­
ing Mrs. Jennings last Sunday
were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kilby
and son of Elsie.
Mrs. Ray Robertson entered the
Osteopathic hospital last Thurs­
day for an operation. She return­
ed to her home here early this
week.
